Man, I gotta tell you about this 04 Yamaha R6 I messed with. It was a real adventure, let me say. So, I got my hands on this bike, and the first thing I did was give it a good once-over. You know, checking the basics, making sure everything’s in its right place.

I started by looking at the mileage. This bad boy had about 6000 miles on it, which isn’t too shabby for an 04. Then, I dove into the engine. This thing’s got a 599cc, 121hp engine, and let me tell you, it purrs like a kitten but roars like a lion when you rev it up. It is better than previous models, and I tried to spin it. It was fun. The seat height is 820mm, which was pretty comfortable for me.
Next, I checked out the throttle bodies. The previous owner said that they were bigger than the older models, and boy, does it make a difference. The bike’s got a quicker response now, which is awesome. Then I played around with the engine map, and from what I could tell, it was improved. I feel this bike is much more flexible than before.
After that, I took a look at the overall condition of the bike. The main parts seemed to hold up well against the elements. I mean, this thing’s been through rain and probably some salt, but it’s still standing strong. But, I did notice a few smaller parts, like some bolts, that could use a little TLC. Nothing major, though.
I also checked the weight. It’s about 162 kg, which is pretty light. Makes it easy to handle, especially when you’re weaving through traffic or taking tight corners.
- Started by examining the mileage, 6000 miles, not bad at all.
- Dove into the engine specs, impressed by the 599cc, 121hp powerhouse.
- Checked out the larger throttle bodies, noticed the quicker response.
- Played around with the improved engine map, felt the increased flexibility.
- Assessed the bike’s overall condition, main parts were solid, but a few bolts needed attention.
- Checked the weight, 162 kg, light and easy to handle.
All in all, messing with this 04 Yamaha R6 was a blast. It’s a solid bike with a lot of power and some neat improvements. It has its quirks, like those bolts, but nothing that a little elbow grease can’t fix. If you get a chance to ride one, or even better, own one, I’d say go for it. It’s a ride you won’t forget. I think I should spend about $3690 on this one, it could be the best one for the road.

Final Thoughts
This bike’s a real gem. It’s got the power, the agility, and the looks. It’s a bit older, sure, but it’s got character. And with a bit of maintenance, I bet it could easily hit 100k miles. It’s one of those bikes that just keeps going and going. Just like the owner said “it’s hard to say because everyone who has one total’s it before the bike gives up on them”. I really enjoy this bike.
