Hey everyone, I’m back with another project and this time it’s about my ’06 CBR 600 RR. Man, this bike is something else. I’ve been itching to get my hands dirty with it, so here’s the lowdown on what I’ve been up to.

First off, getting this bike was a bit of a journey. I had an old bike before, which was an unfortunate run in with a pit bull a few weeks ago and the old one was dead. Then I decided to go with this CBR 600RR. I remember seeing these on the road and thinking, “That’s a sharp-looking machine.” Finally found one in decent shape, and bam, it was mine.
Getting it home was the first hurdle. Had to borrow a buddy’s truck, and let me tell you, loading it up wasn’t exactly a graceful operation. A few close calls, but we managed. Once it was in my garage, that’s when the real fun started.
The first thing I did was give it a good once-over. Checked the fluids, tire pressure, brakes, the whole nine yards. It is my first bike in its class of mid range sports bikes and it is my third bike. I’m often convinced this bike can do far more than I realize. I found a couple of minor things that needed attention, nothing major, just regular maintenance stuff.
Taking it to the Street
Once everything was good, I decided to take it for a spin around the block. I started her up, and that engine purred like a kitten. Then I got it out on the street. I’m telling you, the feeling of the wind rushing past you, the responsiveness of the throttle, it’s addictive. This bike handles like a dream. Leaning into those curves feels so natural, so smooth. It’s like the bike is an extension of your body.
- Smooth Ride: This CBR 600 RR is seriously smooth. Cruising around town is a breeze, and it’s even better on the highway.
- Power Delivery: When you twist that throttle, it just goes. The power is always there, right when you need it.
- Handling: This is where the bike really shines. It’s so nimble and responsive. Turning feels effortless.
I’ve been riding it almost every day since, just getting to know its quirks and personality. It’s been a blast so far. I rode it around town mostly at first, but then decided to hit the highway. I’m talking open road, sun shining, just you and the bike. I’ve even started practicing some basic maneuvers in an empty parking lot, just to get a better feel for its capabilities. Target fixation is important for myself, and I am taking time to get familiar with it.

I am planning to do some upgrades soon. Thinking about a new exhaust, maybe some different grips, who knows. The possibilities are endless. It’s like a blank canvas, and I’m just getting started with the painting.
So, that’s my story with the ’06 CBR 600 RR so far. It’s been an awesome experience, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me. Stay tuned for more updates, because I’m sure there will be plenty.
