That 2009 Aprilia Shiver 750, well, it’s a bike, ain’t it? A bike with two wheels and an engine, just like they all are. They say it’s got this “Ride by Wire” thing, somethin’ fancy they put in them new bikes. Makes it go, I guess. You twist the handle, it goes. Don’t twist it, it don’t. That’s how it works, right?
Now, they say this bike’s got 95 horses in it. 95! What’s a horse doin’ in a bike? Ain’t no horse, it’s just a machine. But they say horses, so I guess it’s fast. You wanna go fast, get on this bike, they say. But where you gonna go fast? Too many cars on the road, too many cops. You go fast, they catch ya, give ya a ticket.
- They say it’s got somethin’ called ABS. Stops you quick, I reckon. Don’t want to skid, do ya? Skid, you fall, you get hurt. ABS, maybe it stops that.
- It’s got three settings too, they say. Sport, Touring, Rain. Sport, you go fast. Touring, you go…touring, I guess. Rain, well, that’s when it’s wet. Why you need a setting for rain? Just slow down!
This bike, they made it in Italy. Italy, that’s where they eat all that pasta, ain’t it? Maybe they put pasta in the bike too, make it go? Don’t make sense, but what do I know? They build bikes, they must know somethin’.
They say it’s good for “sports touring.” What’s that mean? You play sports on it? You tour the sports fields? Don’t get it. You wanna ride a bike, ride a bike. You wanna play sports, go play sports. Don’t mix ’em up.
This bike, they stopped makin’ it in 2016. Why’d they do that? Somethin’ wrong with it? Or just wanted to make somethin’ new? Always makin’ new things, ain’t they? Got to sell somethin’ new, keep people buyin’.
They got all these numbers for it too. Horsepower, RPM, whatever that is. Miles per gallon, how much gas it uses. Don’t matter much to me. You put gas in, you ride. You run out of gas, you walk. Simple as that.
They replaced it with the Shiver 900, they say. 900 what? Horses? Pasta bowls? Don’t know, don’t care. It’s just another bike, ain’t it? Two wheels, engine, goes when you twist the handle. That’s all you need to know.
So, that’s the 2009 Aprilia Shiver 750. A bike. You wanna ride it, go ahead. Just be careful out there, ya hear? Too many crazy drivers. And wear a helmet. Don’t want to bump your head, do ya?
