Today, I did something I’ve been wanting to do for ages – I took my dog, Buddy, to a baseball game! It was the “Bark in the Park” event at the Mets game. I heard about this event and thought it was awesome!

Getting Ready
First, I had to get Buddy ready. This included a good bath because, well, he’s a dog and sometimes he gets a little stinky. I gave him a good brushing to make him look all handsome for the big game. Also, I packed a bag with all the essentials: water, his favorite bowl, some treats, and of course, poop bags. Can’t forget those, right? Oh, and his little Mets bandana, got to support the team.
At the Stadium
We got to Citi Field, and man, it was buzzing! So many people, and lots of dogs. Big ones, small ones, fluffy ones – you name it. Buddy was super excited, tail wagging like crazy. We found our seats, which were in a special dog-friendly section. It was pretty cool, everyone around us had a dog, so no one minded if Buddy got a little excited and barked a bit.
The Game
The game started, and honestly, Buddy was more interested in the other dogs and the dropped hot dog pieces than the actual baseball. But that’s okay! He was having a blast, and I was just happy to see him so happy. We walked around the concourse during the breaks, and he got so many pets and “good boy”s. He was in dog heaven, I swear.
Meeting Other Dogs
One of the best parts was watching Buddy meet other dogs. He’s usually pretty chill, but he was in full-on play mode. He made friends with a cute little pug and a big, goofy golden retriever. They sniffed each other, wagged their tails, and basically had a dog party right there in the stadium.
Wrapping Up
After a few innings, Buddy started getting tired. All that excitement wore him out. We decided to head home before the end of the game, but it was still an awesome day. Buddy slept the whole way back in the car, completely zonked out.

All in all, it was a fantastic day at the ballpark with my best furry friend. I’d totally recommend the “Bark in the Park” to any dog owner. It’s a fun and unique experience, and it’s just heartwarming to see all those happy dogs enjoying a day out. Just remember to bring water, treats, and those poop bags! And maybe a little team spirit for your pup.
- What I Did
- Bathed and brushed Buddy
- Packed essentials (water, bowl, treats, poop bags, bandana)
- Went to Citi Field and found our seats in the dog-friendly section
- Watched the game (well, Buddy watched the other dogs mostly)
- Walked around and let Buddy socialize
- Headed home when Buddy got tired
I think I might have to make this a regular thing. Buddy gave it two paws up, and so do I!
