Okay, so today I wanted to try and recreate that iconic LeBron block. You know the one, right? From the 2016 Finals, Game 7, last two minutes… legendary.

Getting Started
First, I needed a hoop. Luckily, I’ve got one in my driveway. It’s not exactly regulation height – a little lower, makes me feel better about my dunking abilities (or lack thereof).
Then, I needed someone to, you know, actually take the shot. I roped in my neighbor, Mark. He’s a pretty good sport, even though he’s more of a baseball guy.
The (Many) Attempts
- Attempt 1: Total airball on my part. I jumped way too early, nowhere near the ball. Mark just laughed.
- Attempt 2: Slightly better. I got a fingertip on it, but it still went in. Progress, I guess?
- Attempt 3-10: A mix of misses, weak blocks that still resulted in a basket, and a lot of me tripping over my own feet. It’s harder than it looks, people!
I was getting pretty tired, and Mark was starting to look bored. I think he was secretly enjoying watching me fail.
The “Almost” Moment
Then, it happened. On, like, attempt number 15 or something, I timed it almost perfectly. Mark went up for the layup, I leaped, stretched out my arm… and I got a solid piece of the ball!
It didn’t go flying out of bounds like LeBron’s, but it definitely didn’t go in the basket. I’ll take it as a win.
The Aftermath
My legs were burning, I was sweating like crazy, and I think I pulled a muscle in my back. But hey, I kinda, sorta, blocked a shot! It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t on national television, and it definitely wasn’t against Andre Iguodala, but it was my own little LeBron moment.
Maybe I’ll stick to watching the highlights from now on, though.
