Alright, so I wanted to figure out this whole “redshirting” thing in Road to Glory mode in, you know, the college football game. I’d heard some chatter online, but nothing concrete, so I decided to just dive in and see what’s what.

Getting Started
First, I fired up the game and started a new Road to Glory. I picked a quarterback, ’cause, why not? I simulated through the high school season – ain’t nobody got time for that. Then came the college choice. I went with a mid-tier school, figuring I’d have a better shot at playing… or, you know, not playing, if redshirting was the goal.
The Experiment Begins
Once I got on campus, I checked the depth chart. There I was, buried at the bottom. Perfect. I made sure to go to all the practices, you know, just to keep up appearances. But during the games, I just sat on the bench. Simulated through the whole season, week by week.
The Results (or Lack Thereof)
Season one ended, and… nothing. My player’s year still counted. No magical redshirt appeared. I was a sophomore. Hmm.
I thought maybe I did need to do some actions to make sure I was not on the top of any rank. So I started season two with same team, same position.
Went to every game. I purposely missed every pass, every throw, made every efforts to drag down my overall stats.

I simulated to next season.
And then…Same result, I became junior.
My overall player rating? Still went up! Played terribly, and still got better. It seems like the game just automatically progresses you, regardless of whether you actually play or not.
Conclusion (for Now)
So, my grand experiment? Kind of a bust. From what I can tell, you can’t really redshirt in the traditional sense in Road to Glory. Your eligibility ticks down no matter what. Maybe there’s some super-secret trick I’m missing, but after a couple of seasons of dedicated benchwarming, I’m calling it. If anyone out there has cracked the code, let me know!
