Okay, here’s my experience with trying to post more than 10 photos on Instagram in 2024, written in a casual, personal blog style:

So, I was trying to share a bunch of photos from my recent trip. You know, the usual – landscapes, food pics, some goofy selfies. But I hit that annoying 10-photo limit on Instagram. Ugh! I really wanted to put them all in one post, not spam my friends with a million separate ones. So, I started digging around to see if there was a workaround.
My Experiment Begins
First, I just tried the obvious. I opened the Instagram app, hit the “+” button, and started selecting photos. I got to 10, tapped an 11th… and nothing. Nope, Instagram wasn’t having it.
Then I thought, “Maybe there’s some trick to it.” I remembered hearing about glitches letting people do weird stuff, so I tried a few things. I messed around in Instagram app. I don’t recommend this, by the way – I almost messed up a draft I was working on!
The “Layout” App Approach
I’d heard some people talking about using Instagram’s “Layout” app. I figured it was worth a shot.
- I downloaded the Layout app (it’s separate from the main Instagram app, FYI).
- I opened it up and selected a bunch of the photos I wanted.
- I played around with the different layout options – you can do grids, side-by-sides, all that jazz.
- Once I was happy, I hit the save button and chose to share it directly to Instagram.
This kinda worked… but not really. It basically made one big collage image. It wasn’t really multiple photos in a carousel, you know? It was just one image with my pictures crammed together. Not the effect I was going for.

Third-Party Apps
I saw a few third-party apps claiming they could get around the limit. Honestly, I was super hesitant. Giving some random app access to my Instagram account? No thanks. I’ve heard too many horror stories about accounts getting hacked. It wasn’t worth the risk.
The Reality
At this time, I select 10 photos and videos to share, at most.
I guess for now, I’ll just have to be a bit more selective with my photos, or maybe break them up into a couple of posts. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than messing with dodgy workarounds or risking my account.
