Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “New Mexico Outlook” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I wanted to get a better handle on, you know, what’s going on in New Mexico – economically, socially, the whole nine yards. So, I started digging.

First, I just started googling around. You know, “New Mexico economy,” “New Mexico trends,” that sort of thing. I found a bunch of articles, some news reports, and a few government websites. It was a lot of information, and honestly, kind of overwhelming at first.
Diving into Data
Then, I realized I needed to get a bit more organized. So, I started making a list of the key areas I wanted to focus on:
- Jobs: What kind of jobs are growing? Which ones are shrinking?
- Population: Is the population growing or shrinking? Where are people moving to?
- Housing: What’s the housing market like? Is it affordable?
- Education: How are the schools doing? What about higher education?
With this list in hand, I went back to searching. This time, I was more focused. I started finding some interesting reports from the state government, like the Department of Workforce Solutions and the Economic Development Department. These had some actual numbers, which was great!
I also stumbled upon some reports from universities in New Mexico, like UNM and NMSU. They had some really in-depth analyses of different sectors of the economy. I started copying and pasting some of the key data points and charts into a document, just to keep track of everything.
Putting It All Together
After a few days of this, I had a pretty big document full of notes, charts, and random stats. It was a mess, but it was my mess. So, I started trying to organize it. I grouped things by topic (like the list I made earlier), and I started looking for patterns. Are jobs growing in the same areas where the population is growing? Is housing affordability impacting where people are moving?

It’s still a work in progress, to be honest. I’m still connecting the dots and trying to figure out the bigger picture. But I feel like I’m starting to get a better sense of what’s going on in New Mexico, and what the future might hold. It’s definitely not a simple picture, but it’s an interesting one.
I plan to keep digging and learning. Maybe I’ll even try to create some of my own charts and visualizations to make the data easier to understand. It’s a bit of a project, but hey, it’s keeping me busy!
