Okay, so today I wanted to figure out “cuantos dias faltan para el 1 de enero” – basically, how many days are left until January 1st. I’ve got this thing for tracking time, and I thought it would be a neat little project to do it myself instead of just Googling it.

First, I grabbed my trusty notebook and pen. Yeah, I’m old school like that. I like to jot things down before I get to the computer. I figured I needed today’s date first.
- I checked the date on my phone. Simple enough.
Then, I thought, “Okay, how do I actually calculate this?” I remembered there’s that whole “days in each month” thing. You know, the “30 days has September, April, June, and November…” rhyme? I tried to remember the whole thing, got most of it, but then I double-checked online just to be sure. I really don’t want mess this up!
My Messy Calculations
Next, I started counting. This is where it got a little messy. I listed out the remaining days in the current month. Then I added up all the days in the full months between now and the end of the year. It was a bit of a process, going month by month, making sure I didn’t miss anything. I kept track of everything in my notebook, scribbling numbers and crossing things out.
For the current month, I subtracted today’s date from the total number of days in the month. That gave me the remaining days for this month.
Finally, I added everything together: the remaining days in the current month, plus the days in all the full months until the end of the year. Boom! I had my number. It felt pretty good to do it all manually, even if it took a bit longer than just looking it up.

I won’t to show the specific numbers for privacy, and the main idea is showing my process.
