Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Alexander Bankuti. Sounds like a fancy name, don’t it? Don’t rightly know him, never met him, but I heard some things, read some things, you know how it goes in this world.

First off, they say he was born way back in 1932, December 12th to be exact. That’s a long time ago, makes ya think. Lived a good long life, I reckon, ’cause he didn’t pass till 2020, January 31st. That’s near 90 years, if my countin’s right. He died in Bolton, Ontario. Heard it’s a nice place, but I ain’t never been.
Obituary, that’s what they called it. They wrote about him in the Toronto Star, fancy paper, not like the ones we get around here. Said he “ascended to The Racetrack in Eternal Paradise.” Now, that’s a way of puttin’ it, ain’t it? Guess he liked racin’, maybe horses, maybe cars, who knows? But it sounds like he went to a good place, wherever it is.

They got these things called obituaries, see? They tell ya when someone died and a little bit about ’em. They said folks could “express condolences and share memories.” That means they could say they were sorry he was gone and tell stories about him. Sounds like a good way to remember someone.
I tried lookin’ for more about him, ya know, on that internet thingy my grandkids showed me. Typed in his name, Alexander Bankuti, and a bunch of stuff popped up. Lots of it was just sayin’ the same things, ’bout him dyin’ and all. But I did see some folks with the same name on somethin’ called Facebook. Don’t know if it’s the same fella, could be his kids or grandkids, or maybe just some other folks with the same name. This world’s a big place, ya know.
Then I saw somethin’ strange, said an Alexander Bankuti worked at a school in 2022. But the fella I’m talkin’ ’bout died in 2020. So, it gotta be a different fella, right? Unless they got ghosts workin’ at schools now, which I highly doubt. This other fella worked at North Middlesex Regional School District and made 22 dollars. Don’t know if that’s 22 dollars an hour, a day, or a week, but it ain’t much these days.

This whole thing got me thinkin’ ’bout life and death and how folks remember each other. Alexander Bankuti, he lived a long life, sounds like he was loved, and folks wrote nice things ’bout him when he passed. That’s about all ya can ask for, ain’t it? We all gonna go someday, just a matter of when and how. Makes ya appreciate the time ya got, ya know?
And speakin’ of other Alexanders, the internet showed me some other fellas with that name. One was an inventor, made somethin’ called plastic way back when. Another one died of somethin’ called typhus, long time ago, in Russia. And there was another fella, an actor from Australia, who came up with some way of movin’ your body. They call that Alexander Technique, sounds complicated if you ask me. None of ’em were the Alexander Bankuti I was lookin’ for, but it goes to show ya, there’s all kinds of folks out there, doin’ all kinds of things.
So, that’s the story of Alexander Bankuti, or at least what I could piece together. Born, lived, died, remembered. Just like the rest of us, only his story got written down in the paper. Makes ya think, don’t it?
