Alright, so I wanted to mess around with some NBA data, specifically about the Oklahoma City Thunder, ’cause, you know, they’ve been pretty interesting lately. So here’s how I went down the rabbit hole.

Digging into OKC Thunder Data
First, I just started by, well, searching. I mean, where else do you start? I typed in “OKC Thunder stats” or something like that. I bounced around a few different websites.
So, after gathering some intel, I decided I wanted to see how the team’s performance has changed over, say, the last few seasons. It feels like they went from rebuilding to, like, actually competing pretty fast.
I started to jot down some notes, pretty messy at first. Just kind of free-associating, looking at different players and stats. It was like:
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Dude’s a scoring machine. How much has his scoring gone up each year?
- Team Wins/Losses: Obvious, but I needed to see the actual numbers to back up my feeling that they’re improving.
- New guys: who have been the new players impact the teams
Then I started organizing things a bit more. I made little tables, nothing fancy, just to keep track of the key stats I was finding. Like, I’d have a column for “Season,” then “Wins,” “Losses,” “Shai’s PPG,” and some notes about key players or changes in the team.
Honestly, the hardest part was just staying focused. It’s easy to get distracted by all the different stats and storylines. I had to keep reminding myself what I was actually trying to figure out: How has the team evolved, statistically, over the recent seasons?

After spending a good chunk of time on this, I started to see a clearer picture. The numbers definitely showed the upward trend I was expecting. Shai’s scoring, the team’s win totals, it all pointed to a team on the * is pretty good for me to keep tracking OKC heat.
