Okay, let’s talk about getting those Hisui Pokémon in Pokémon GO. It wasn’t exactly straightforward when they first dropped, but I dove right in.

Getting Started with Hisui
First thing I remember was hearing rumors, then the official announcement popped up in the app news. Hisui stuff was coming! I was pretty interested, mostly ’cause those designs from Legends: Arceus looked kinda cool and different. My main goal was just to see how they’d fit them into GO.
When the event actually started, I fired up the app like usual. My first move was checking the ‘Today’ tab to see what was active. There were usually some timed research tasks or collection challenges tied to these events.
Hitting the Streets (and Raids)
I headed out for my usual walk. Didn’t take long before I saw something new on the map. A Hisuian Growlithe! Looked pretty neat. Threw a few balls, caught it. Seemed like the wild spawns were the easiest way to get some of the basic forms.
Then came the raids. That seemed to be the main way they introduced the tougher ones or the regional evolutions early on. I remember seeing Hisuian Braviary pop up at a nearby gym.
- Checked my raid passes – had a few saved up.
- Tapped on the gym, saw a few people already in the lobby.
- Joined the raid.
- Spent the next couple of minutes just tapping furiously on my screen. Tried to dodge its big attacks, sometimes worked, sometimes didn’t.
- We beat it, thankfully.
Then came the catch screen. Threw my premier balls carefully, used a Golden Razz Berry just in case. Managed to snag it. That felt like a good win for the day.

The Grind for Evolutions and Others
Catching them was one thing, but evolving them was another task. I specifically wanted Hisuian Sneasler and Overqwil. That meant catching a bunch of Hisuian Sneasel and Hisuian Qwilfish for candy.
This involved:
- Walking around areas with lots of PokéStops to maximize spawns.
- Using Pinap Berries on every single Hisuian Sneasel and Qwilfish I saw.
- Checking those event-specific Field Research tasks from spinning stops, sometimes they awarded encounters with the Pokémon I needed.
Some evolutions had weird requirements too, not just candy. I think for one of them, you had to win a certain number of raids with it as your buddy or something like that? Had to double-check the evolve button to see the exact requirement. It took a while, walking around, battling in raids, and keeping track of those specific goals.
Wrapping Up the Experience
Eventually, I managed to get most of the Hisuian forms available during that initial push. Caught the Growlithe, Voltorb, Qwilfish, Sneasel in the wild. Raided for Braviary. Walked and ground out the candy and tasks for Overqwil and Sneasler. Later on, things like the Origin Formes of Dialga and Palkia showed up in raids too, which was another whole raiding effort.
It was a typical Pokémon GO event experience, really. Some walking, some raiding, some grinding. Fun to see the new designs finally make it into the game I play daily. Just took some focused effort during the event window to make sure I didn’t miss out.
