Alright, let me tell you about my day at Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah, GA. I decided last minute, “You know what? I’m gonna hit the links.” So, I packed up my clubs, grabbed a few beers (don’t judge!), and headed over there. It’s been a while since I played a full 18, so I was expecting some rust.

First thing’s first, checked in. The guy at the pro shop was pretty chill. Gave me the run-down on the course conditions and where the trouble spots were. He mentioned the greens were running a little fast, which got me kinda excited. I like a fast green.
Warmed up a little on the driving range, didn’t want to pull a muscle on the first tee box. My swing felt okay, nothing spectacular, but good enough to get started. I aimed to make solid contact more than trying to kill the ball.
Hole 1: Stepped up to the tee, took a deep breath, and WHACK! Not bad! Right down the middle. Felt good. Approach shot was a little short, landed just off the green. Chipped it up and two-putted for bogey. Not the worst start.
Holes 2-9: The front nine was a rollercoaster, to be honest. A couple of pars, a couple of doubles, and a whole lot of bogeys. My putting was awful! Couldn’t seem to read the greens right. Plus, there were a couple of water hazards that I got acquainted with a little too well. Lost a ball or two there. But hey, that’s golf.
Time for a quick pit stop at the turn. Grabbed a hot dog and another beer. Needed the fuel! Talked to a couple of guys who were also playing solo. Shared some golf stories, complained about our bad shots, the usual.

Holes 10-18: The back nine started off a little better. Maybe it was the hot dog, maybe it was the beer, or maybe I just finally started to figure out the greens. I actually strung together a few pars in a row! But then, disaster struck on 15. Tried to be a hero and carry a water hazard on my second shot. Didn’t quite make it. Splash! Another ball gone. Ended up with a triple bogey on that hole. Ugh.
Finished up the round, tallied up the score (don’t ask!), and headed back to the clubhouse. Grabbed one last beer and sat on the patio, watching the sunset. Even though I didn’t play my best, it was still a good day. Being out on the course, enjoying the fresh air, and hitting (some) good shots is always worth it.
- Highlights: A couple of really nice drives, a few clutch putts, and some good conversation with fellow golfers.
- Lowlights: Too many water hazards, terrible putting on the front nine, and that disastrous triple bogey on 15.
Final Thoughts
Crosswinds is a decent course. It’s not overly challenging, but it’s got enough interesting holes to keep you engaged. The greens were in good shape, and the fairways were well-maintained. I’d definitely play there again. Next time, I’m bringing more balls!
So, that was my day at Crosswinds. Nothing earth-shattering, just a regular guy hacking his way around a golf course. Hope you enjoyed the recap!
