Okay, here’s my take on sharing my experience with creating a Colorado depth chart, blog-style.

Diving Deep into the Colorado Depth Chart: My Journey
Alright, folks, let me tell you about the rabbit hole I fell into this week: trying to piece together a reliable Colorado Buffaloes football depth chart. I mean, who doesn’t love a good depth chart breakdown, right? It’s like trying to predict the future, only with slightly more padded shoulders and less crystal ball.
It all started with the usual pre-season buzz. You know, the hype videos, the coach speak, the promises of a new and improved season. I got sucked in, naturally. So, I figured, what better way to fuel the excitement than by getting my hands dirty and trying to figure out who’s actually going to be on the field?
First, I scoured the internet. I mean, really scoured. Team websites, local news outlets, those sketchy message boards where everyone claims to be an insider – the whole shebang. It was like an archaeological dig, sifting through layers of speculation and outdated information.
Compiled the data, I started to see some patterns. Certain names kept popping up, guys who were supposedly locked in as starters. But then there were the question marks, the position battles that were still up in the air. That’s where things got interesting.
Next, I watched some game film. Thank goodness for replay services and sketchy YouTube uploads! Trying to identify players, analyzing formations, and seeing who was getting the most reps during the spring game – it was a crash course in football analysis, let me tell you.

Reached out to a couple of folks I know who are closer to the program than I am. Nothing official, mind you, just some casual conversations to get their sense of things. You’d be surprised how much you can glean from a simple “Hey, what’s the word on so-and-so?”
After all that, I had to make some tough calls. Who do I actually believe is going to be out there on Week 1? Who’s the real deal, and who’s just a flash in the pan? This is where the “art” of depth chart creation comes in. It’s part informed guesswork, part gut feeling.
Organized everything into a somewhat coherent chart. Listed the starters, the backups, the potential contributors. It looked… reasonably accurate, at least to my eyes. Of course, things are bound to change once the season actually starts. Injuries happen, guys emerge, coaches change their minds. It’s the nature of the beast.
But hey, that’s half the fun, right? The constant tweaking, the never-ending debate, the sheer speculation of it all. It’s what keeps us coming back for more.
Shared my creation with some friends, and we immediately started arguing about it. Which is exactly what I was hoping for. What’s a depth chart without a little friendly disagreement?

- Quarterback: Starter X, Backup Y, Dark Horse Z
- Running Back: Starter A, Backup B, Change-of-Pace Guy C
- Wide Receiver: WR1, WR2, Slot Guy, etc.
Anyway, that’s the story of my Colorado depth chart deep dive. Was it a waste of time? Maybe. Was it fun? Absolutely. And who knows, maybe I’ll even be right about a few things. We’ll see!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go update my chart. I just heard a rumor about a walk-on who’s been turning heads in practice…
