Okay, so the other day I was thinking, man, I keep missing people’s birthdays. It feels bad, you know? I use Snapchat a lot to talk to friends, so I figured there had to be a way to see their birthdays right in the app. I decided to poke around and see what I could figure out.

My First Look Around
Honestly, my first thought was just to scroll through my main chat list. Sometimes apps put little icons or reminders there. I scrolled down, looking at all my chats, but nope. Nothing obvious jumping out at me. No little cake icons next to names or anything like that on the main screen.
Then I thought, okay, maybe it’s on their profile? So, I went into a chat with a friend, tapped on their little Bitmoji head at the top left. That takes you to the friendship profile, right? I looked all over that page. Saw our Snap Score, our saved snaps, all that stuff. But still, no date just listed plain as day like “Birthday: March 15th”. Kind of annoying.
Digging a Bit Deeper
I was looking at that friendship profile page again, the one with the Snap Score. Below all the main stuff, there’s that section called Charms. I usually ignore those, they seem kinda silly. But I tapped on ‘View Charms’ just to see.
And guess what? As I scrolled through the different charms we had, I saw one with a little birthday cake! When I tapped on that charm, it actually showed my friend’s zodiac sign, and crucially, it said something like “[Friend’s Name]’s birthday is coming up!” or it showed the date if it was recent or the actual day.
- So, step one I figured out: Go to the chat with your friend.
- Tap their profile picture/name at the top.
- Scroll down to the Charms section.
- Look for the Birthday Cake charm. Tapping it gives you info.
This was pretty good! But it only works one friend at a time, and only if you interact enough to have charms, I guess? Plus, you have to know whose birthday you’re checking.

Finding the Birthday List
I felt there had to be a better way, like a list. I went back to the main Chat screen. At the top right, there’s usually icons, sometimes a search bar. I also noticed the little rocket icon sometimes, which opens up Games and Minis.
I decided to try the Search bar first. I just typed “Birthdays”. And boom! A little Snapchat Mini called “Birthdays” popped up.
I tapped on that, and it opened up a whole section dedicated to birthdays. It was exactly what I was looking for!
It showed:
- Upcoming Birthdays: All my friends whose birthdays were coming soon, listed with the dates.
- Recent Birthdays: Friends whose birthdays just passed.
- All Birthdays: A list of friends, seemingly grouped by month (if they’ve put their birthday in and made it visible).
This was way easier than checking charms one by one. You just open this Mini, and it lays it all out for you.

So, That’s How I Figured It Out
Basically, after poking around a bit, I found two main ways:
Method 1: The Charm Check
Go into your chat with a specific friend, tap their name/picture, scroll down to Charms, and look for the birthday cake. Good for checking one person if you remember.
Method 2: The Birthdays Mini
Go to the Chat screen, tap the Search icon (or sometimes the rocket icon for Minis), search for “Birthdays,” and open the Mini. This gives you a whole list – upcoming, recent, and all (if available).

Of course, this all depends on if your friends actually entered their birthday into Snapchat and didn’t hide it. If they didn’t put it in, it won’t show up anywhere. But for those who did, the Birthdays Mini seems like the quickest way to get a heads-up. Took a little exploring, but now I know where to look!
