Alright, so I was rummaging through some old boxes the other day, you know, the kind you shove in the back of the closet and forget about. Found my old Ravens jersey, the purple one. And it got me thinking about some of the players from back then. Specifically, Eugene Monroe.

I remember when the Ravens got him. Felt like a solid move at the time, getting a tackle like that. I used to watch the games pretty religiously back then, weekends were all about football. Didn’t miss much.
Watching Him Play
You’d see him out there on the line. Offensive line guys don’t always get the spotlight, right? They’re doing the dirty work. But you noticed him. Seemed like a dependable guy on that line, protecting the quarterback. It’s funny how you get attached to players on your team, even the ones not scoring the touchdowns.
I think I got that jersey around the time he was playing. Not his number specifically, just a team jersey, but seeing it brought back those seasons. Weekends involved:
- Getting snacks ready.
- Putting the jersey on.
- Yelling at the TV, obviously.
- Just enjoying the whole ritual of it.
Moving On
Then, things change. Players move on, careers end. I remember hearing about his injuries, which is always tough. Football’s a brutal sport, no doubt about it. One minute they’re playing, the next they’re dealing with stuff that affects them long after they hang up the cleats.
Then came the stuff after football. I started seeing his name pop up again, but for different reasons. Talking about pain management, looking into CBD and cannabis stuff, especially for players dealing with injuries and the aftermath. It was kinda surprising at first, you know? You see these tough guys on the field, and then they start talking about health and alternative treatments. Made me think.

It’s just interesting following someone’s path. From seeing them drafted or traded, watching them play week in and week out, and then seeing what they do after their time in the league is over. Monroe’s journey, from the field to speaking out about player health, it’s definitely one of those stories that sticks with you a bit. Finding that old jersey just brought it all back for a minute there. Makes you appreciate the guys who play the game and think about what comes next for them too.
