Now, I ain’t no expert on horse racin’, mind you. But even I’ve heard tell of this Javier Castellano fella. He’s been ridin’ them horses for a good long while, seems like. Born way back in October, the 23rd, though I don’t rightly know the year. He ain’t from around here, that’s for sure. Heard he come from some place called Venezuela. Don’t know where that is, but it sounds far off.
Folks keep jabberin’ on ’bout how good he is. Say he’s won a whole heap of races. They got these fancy names for ’em, like the “Eclipse Award.” Seems he won that thing four times in a row! Four times! Can ya believe it? That’s more wins than my old rooster has hens, and that’s sayin’ somethin’. They say he’s only one of two jockeys to ever do that. Special fella, I guess.
And then there’s this “Breeders’ Cup.” Sounds like a big to-do. Well, he’s gone and won that twelve times! Twelve! That’s more times than I’ve been to town in the last year, I reckon. And those Triple Crown races? He’s won four of them. Folks get all worked up about those Triple Crown races, seems like a real big deal.
- Eclipse Award: Won it four times in a row, they say. That’s gotta be somethin’ special.
- Breeders’ Cup: Twelve wins! That’s a whole lotta racin’ wins, if ya ask me.

That’s more times than my ol’ hound dog has chased squirrels, and that dog chases squirrels all day long. They even said he set a record with his fifth win on a horse named Keen Ice. Don’t know no horses, but that name sounds kinda fancy.
And get this, they even got a special place for the best of the best, called the “Hall of Fame.” Sounds mighty important. Well, they put him in there in 2017. Must be a real honor, bein’ in that Hall of Fame. Guess that means he’s one of the best jockeys ever was.
All That Money and Racin’
Now, I ain’t one for gossip, but I heard tell he made a whole lotta money ridin’ them horses. Set some kind of record for winnin’ the most money in a single year. Don’t know how much money that is, but it sounds like a lot. Enough to buy a whole lotta hay, I’d bet. He’s been racin’ through 2023 and probably still goin’, seems he ain’t tired of it yet.
They even got these websites and things where you can look up all his races and wins. I wouldn’t know how to work one of them things, but the young folks seem to like ’em. You can see all the horses he’s ridden, all the races he’s won, all that jazz. Folks sure do like keepin’ track of things.
Just a Fella Ridin’ Horses
So, that’s what I know about this Javier Castellano fella. Seems like he’s a real good jockey, won a whole heap of races, and made a whole lotta money. But when it all boils down, he’s just a fella ridin’ horses, ain’t he? Just like them fellas down at the county fair, only maybe a bit faster and with fancier horses. And a whole lot more money, I reckon.
