So, everyone’s been talking about Baldur’s Gate 3, right? Non-stop. I heard all the hype, saw the cool clips, and thought, “Okay, gotta try this out.” My brain was buzzing with character ideas already!

My PS4 Plan
My old PS4, it’s been a real workhorse for me. Still kicking after all these years. So, naturally, my first thought was, “Sweet, I’ll just grab Baldur’s Gate 3 on the PS4.” Seemed straightforward enough. I was ready to dive in, probably spend hours just on the character creator, you know how it is.
The Search Begins… and Ends Pretty Quick
I fired up the console, navigated my way over to the PlayStation Store. My fingers flew across the virtual keyboard, typing in “Baldur’s Gate 3.” Hit search. Waited for that beautiful game art to pop up. And… nothing. Just a blank. That was weird, I thought. Maybe a typo?
So, I double-checked my spelling. B-A-L-D-U-R-S… G-A-T-E… 3. Tried again. Still no dice. Okay, plan B. I even tried searching for “Larian Studios,” the folks who made it. Found some of their older games, which are great, but not the new hotness I was looking for.
The Big Realization Kicks In
Alright, this was getting a bit frustrating. My excitement was starting to fizzle. So, I grabbed my phone, opened up a browser, and did a quick search: “Baldur’s Gate 3 PS4 release date.” And there it was, splashed across a few articles and forum posts. The game, it’s just not out for the PlayStation 4. My heart kinda sank a bit, not gonna lie.
Seems this game is a real powerhouse, technically speaking. It needs a lot of oomph, a lot of processing power to run properly. The kind of oomph the PS4, bless its faithful old circuits, just doesn’t have. It’s built for the newer machines, like the PS5 and those high-end PCs people have.

So, What’s a Gamer to Do?
Well, that put a proper spanner in the works for my gaming plans! I was all geared up for a massive adventure, and then, womp womp, reality check. All my buddies are already deep into their campaigns on their newer systems, sharing stories, and I’m just here nodding along like, “Oh, sounds amazing.”
It’s got me thinking, you know?
- Do I just resign myself to watching gameplay videos online and pretend I’m playing? (Kinda sad, right?)
- Do I start seriously looking into getting a PS5? (My wallet just flinched.)
- Or do I just dig back into my existing backlog of PS4 games? (There are still some unplayed gems gathering dust in there!)
It’s a bit of a pickle. For now, playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on my trusty PS4 is just not gonna happen. It was a nice thought, a solid plan in my head, but the tech just ain’t there for it on my current setup. I guess I learned something new, the hard way, as usual! It’s always the way, isn’t it?
So yeah, that was my big “Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS4” saga. Turned out to be more of an adventure in discovering its unavailability than an actual in-game adventure. Ha! Maybe one day, if they perform some sort of technical wizardry and release a super-optimized version, but I’m definitely not holding my breath. For now, it’s back to the drawing board to figure out my next gaming obsession on the good old PS4.
