Well, let me tell ya ’bout the weather at that there Masters golf thingy. Them fellas swinging sticks, they gotta deal with whatever the sky throws at ’em, just like us with our crops, ya know?

The Forecast, Kinda Sorta
So, they sayin’ on Sunday, April 14, things were lookin’ up, but let me tell ya, weather folks ain’t always right. They were yappin’ ’bout a small chance of rain in the mornin’, like 20 percent or somethin’, ’round 7 to 10 am. Then they go on about maybe some thunderstorms sneakin’ in ’round 8 or 9. Who knows, really? Weather’s like a mule, does what it wants.
Friday, they said it’d be windy, but mostly sunny. Said somethin’ ’bout “dry and stable air.” Sounds fancy, but all I care is if them golfers can keep their hats on.
Now, Tuesday and Wednesday, that’s when it gets tricky. They talkin’ ’bout overcast and warmish, in the mid-twenties they say. And showers, maybe. But then, bam! They expectin’ a whole lotta rain on Thursday, for the first day of the tourney. Thirty millimeters, they say. That’s a good soakin’, I tell ya. Enough to make the creek rise and the worms come out.
Wind and Rain, Makes Things Tough

This ain’t the first time the weather’s messed with them golfers. Remember last year, 2023? Rain and wind, all over the place. Delayed everything, crammed the whole thing into the weekend. A mess, it was. Just like when the hail comes and beats down my corn stalks, makes ya wanna just sit and cry.
- Wind: They’re sayin’ the wind’ll be blowin’ from the southwest, 6 to 13 miles per hour, with gusts up to 17. That ain’t too bad, but enough to make them little white balls go all wonky.
- Rain: If it rains real hard, or if there’s lightnin’, they gotta stop playin’. That’s what they call a “rain delay.” They’ll finish the round later, when the weather lets up. Sometimes, that means waitin’ till the next day. And them fancy folks at Augusta, they don’t give no refunds, no matter what. Tough luck, I guess.
Hot and Cold, They Gotta Deal
They also said somethin’ ’bout the temperature. High of 82 degrees Fahrenheit, they say, and a low of 61. That’s a pretty big swing, if you ask me. Gonna be hot in the day, cool in the night. Them golfers, they gotta dress for all kinds of weather. Just like us farmers, gotta layer up in the winter and strip down in the summer.
Masters Weather History, Ya Know
And get this, they say the wettest Masters ever was way back in 1936. More than three inches of rain that whole week! Can ya imagine? And most of the time, it rains at least a little bit during the tournament. They say 67 percent of the time, there’s some rain. Last year was wet too, almost three inches. So, rain ain’t nothin’ new to these golfers.

Who’s Gonna Win, Anyways?
Now, they talkin’ ’bout who’s gonna win. This fella, Scottie Scheffler, they say he’s the favorite. Won two times lately and came in second another time. Then there’s this Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka, and some other names I can’t even pronounce. Jon Rahm, Wyndham Clark… Sounds like a bunch of city slickers to me.
Final Thoughts
So, that’s the weather story for the Masters. Wind, maybe some rain, maybe some sun. Who knows for sure? It’s all up in the air, just like a good ol’ kite on a breezy day. Them golfers, they just gotta tough it out and play their best, no matter what the sky throws at ‘em. And that’s all there is to it, ya hear?
