Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this “bigwei” thing, whatever it is. Sounds like somethin’ fancy, but I reckon it ain’t nothin’ more than learnin’ stuff, right? Like, learnin’ how to make a good ol’ apple pie or fix a fence. Same difference, I say.

First thing’s first, you gotta figure out what you wanna learn. Don’t go chasin’ after every shiny thing you see. Pick somethin’ useful, somethin’ that’ll put food on the table or keep the roof from leakin’. That’s what I always say, practical is good.
Now, once you got your mind set on somethin’, you gotta see where you stand. You ain’t gonna be fixin’ no tractors if you can’t even change a lightbulb, right? So, be honest with yourself. Are you a beginner, or you know a little somethin’? Gotta start somewhere, that’s all.
- If you are a green hand, find yourself a good teacher. Someone who knows their stuff and ain’t afraid to show ya the ropes.
- Maybe it’s your neighbor, maybe it’s some fella down at the hardware store. Just find someone who’s patient and willing to teach an old dog new tricks, so to speak.
Next up, you gotta figure out how you’re gonna learn. Some folks learn by doin’, some folks learn by readin’, some folks learn by watchin’. Me? I gotta see it with my own two eyes and then try it myself. That’s the only way it sticks in my old brain.
And don’t expect to learn everything overnight. It takes time and effort, like growin’ a good crop of corn. You gotta plant the seeds, water ’em, weed ’em, and then wait. Same with learnin’. You gotta practice, practice, practice. And don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Everybody does. Just gotta learn from ’em and keep on goin’.
Set yourself some goals, too. Little ones at first, then bigger ones as you go along. Like, maybe the first goal is to learn how to thread a needle. Then, it’s to sew a button. Then, it’s to make a whole darn quilt. See? Step by step, that’s how you do it.

And don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. We all get stuck sometimes. There ain’t no shame in admittin’ you don’t know somethin’. Just swallow your pride and ask. Most folks are happy to lend a hand, specially if you bring ‘em a slice of that apple pie you learned to make.
Now, some folks, they get all fancy about learnin’. They talk about “critical thinking” and “problem-solvin’ strategies.” I don’t know nothin’ about all that. All I know is, if you wanna learn somethin’, you gotta put your mind to it and work hard. That’s the whole truth and nothin’ but the truth.
And don’t give up when it gets tough. There’ll be times when you feel like you ain’t makin’ no progress, times when you wanna throw in the towel. But don’t do it. Just keep pushin’ forward, keep learnin’, keep growin’. That’s how you get good at somethin’. That’s how you master somethin’, even if it’s just makin’ a good batch of biscuits.
So, this “bigwei” thing, it ain’t no magic trick. It’s just about learnin’ and growin’, one step at a time. And if an old woman like me can learn a thing or two, then so can you. Just gotta put your heart and soul into it. And don’t forget to enjoy the process. After all, ain’t nothin’ more satisfying than lookin’ back and seein’ how far you’ve come.
Now, I think it’s time for a cup of coffee. All this talk about learnin’ has made me tired. But you remember what I said, find somethin’ you want to learn, find someone to learn from, put in the work and do not ever quit no matter how bad it gets. That’s the only secret to gettin’ good at something. That’s all there is to it.
