Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Ryan Harrison. He used to play that tennis game, you know, the one with the rackets and the fuzzy balls? Yep, that’s the one.

Ryan Harrison, the Tennis Player, that’s what they called him. He was pretty good, I reckon. Not like them super famous fellas, but good enough to be on TV sometimes. I saw him on that there TV box once, hittin’ that ball back and forth. Made me dizzy just watchin’!
Now, I heard tell he started playin’ when he was just a young’un. 2007, they say, is when he went all professional-like. That’s a long time ago, ain’t it? Makes me feel old just thinkin’ about it. He played and played, and got pretty darn good, I guess. They say he got to be number 40 in the whole wide world in 2017. That’s somethin’, right? Forty out of all them folks hittin’ tennis balls!
- He even won a big ol’ tournament in Memphis that same year.
- A singles title, they called it.
- Sounded fancy.
He was a real all-rounder, this Ryan fella. Could hit the ball hard, could hit it soft, could run all over the place. An “all-court style,” they said on the TV. Sounded like he knew what he was doin’, that’s for sure.
But then, things started gettin’ tough for him. Injuries, they say. His body just couldn’t keep up no more, I reckon. And those matches, they got harder and harder. He wasn’t winnin’ like he used to. It’s a tough life, bein’ a tennis player, I tell ya. All that runnin’ and jumpin’ and hittin’. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
And you know what? He went and got himself hitched too! Married a nice gal named Lauren McHale. Her sister played tennis too, I think. It’s a whole tennis family, them folks. They got married in Austin, Texas. Pretty place, I hear. Never been there myself, but I seen it on the TV.

Ryan Harrison Retirement, that’s what they’re talkin’ about now. Seems like he’s done with the tennis game. Hung up his racket, so to speak. He put somethin’ on that “Insta-gram,” whatever that is. Said he was retirin’. Thirty-one years old, he is. Still a young fella in my book, but I guess tennis takes its toll.
He had some “health issues,” they say. That’s a shame, ain’t it? But I reckon he had a good run. Played all over the world, they say. “Global stage,” they called it. Met all sorts of fancy folks, I bet. And he won some matches, and he lost some matches. That’s life, ain’t it? Can’t win ’em all, no matter how hard you try.
I heard he talked a lot, this Ryan fella. Long sentences, they said. Guess he had a lot to say. And he had a good support system, too. His wife, Lauren, and his family. That’s important, you know. Can’t do nothin’ in this world without good folks around ya.
Ryan Harrison’s Tennis Career was somethin’ special, I reckon. He might not be a household name like them other fellas, but he played hard, and he did his best. And that’s all you can ask for, ain’t it? Now he’s retired and probably doing something else, maybe taking it easy. He deserves it, after all that running around.
Some other tennis player, a gal named Danielle Collins, she got herself a new coach, an old friend. That’s what they do, these tennis folks. Always helpin’ each other out. It’s a tough business, you know. Gotta stick together.

So that’s the story of Ryan Harrison, as best as I can tell it. A good tennis player, a good husband, and I reckon, a good fella. He played his heart out, and now he’s movin’ on to somethin’ new. Good for him, I say. Good for him.
