Alright, let’s talk about these nyy coaches, you know, the fellas who tell them Yankees players what to do. I ain’t no expert, but I watch them games, and I see some things, hear some things.

First off, gotta talk about the manager, that Boone fella. He’s the head honcho, the one in charge. Folks say he’s alright, but some other folks, they ain’t so sure. He’s been there a while now, so I guess he must be doin’ somethin’ right. They say he figures out the plays and tells the boys how to play, on the field and off. Like, when to hit, when to run, all that fancy stuff. Sounds like a lot of thinkin’ to me.
Now, these Yankees, they been around a long, long time. Been called different names too, Highlanders and such. But they always had some fellas tellin’ them what to do. I heard tell there’s been, like, thirty-somethin’ managers over the years. Can you believe that? Thirty-somethin’ fellas yappin’ at them players! That Billy Martin fella, he came back a bunch of times, like he couldn’t stay away or somethin’. Kept comin’ back for more, I guess.
- Hitting Coach: This fella, he teaches them how to hit the ball, real hard and far, hopefully.
- Pitching Coach: This one, he works with them pitchers, makin’ sure they throw the ball right, so them other fellas can’t hit it.
- First Base Coach, Third Base Coach: These fellas, they stand on the bases and tell the runners what to do, when to run, when to slide, that kinda thing. Gotta be quick on their feet, them fellas.
They got all sorts of other coaches too, I reckon. Some help with catchin’, some with runnin’, some with just standin’ around lookin’ important, I guess. Heard they even got a new reliever, Devin Williams his name is. Boone, he’s gotta figure out how to use him. Where to put him in the game, when to bring him in. It’s like a puzzle, this baseball thing.
And them coaches, they ain’t just some fellas off the street. A lot of ’em used to play for the Yankees themselves. Like that Mattingly fella and that Guidry fella, they was players, good ones too, and then they came back to coach. Kinda like teachin’ the young’uns what they learned, I figure.
This year, 2025, they got a whole bunch of coaches, some new, some old. Boone, he just finished settin’ up his staff, they say. Got all his ducks in a row, ready to go. They got a big ol’ team too, forty fellas or somethin’ like that. But not all of ’em play all the time. Some just sit on the bench and wait, I guess. Waitin’ for their chance to shine.

And speakin’ of shinin’, they got this website, see, where they put all the players’ info. How tall they are, how much they weigh, when they was born, all that. It’s like a whole book about the Yankees, but on the computer. Handy, I guess, if you wanna know that kinda stuff. They also put the lineup there, who’s gonna play each game. So you know who to yell at when they mess up! Just kiddin’, mostly.
The Yankees, they win some, they lose some. That’s just the way it is. But them coaches, they try their best to make sure the winnin’ happens more often than the losin’. It’s their job, after all. And when they win, the whole city goes crazy, hollerin’ and cheerin’. It’s somethin’ to see, let me tell you. And when they lose? Well, folks ain’t so happy then. But there’s always another game, another chance to win. And them coaches, they’ll be right there, tellin’ them players what to do, tryin’ to get ’em that win.
So, that’s the way I see it, these nyy coaches, they got a tough job. Gotta keep them players in line, gotta teach ’em how to play, gotta make sure they win. It ain’t easy, but somebody’s gotta do it. And these Yankees, well, they wouldn’t be the Yankees without ’em.
They say the Yankees been playin’ ball for over a hundred years, over a hundred seasons! Can you imagine? That’s a lot of ball games, a lot of yellin’, a lot of spittin’. They won a whole bunch of games too, lost some too, of course. Nobody wins all the time, unless you’re cheatin’, and I don’t think these Yankees are cheaters. They wouldn’t do that, would they?
Anyways, the important thing is them coaches keep them players playin’ good, playin’ hard. And that’s what the fans want, ain’t it? They wanna see a good game, they wanna see their team win. And them nyy coaches, they’re the ones makin’ sure that happens, or at least tryin’ to. It’s a hard job, but somebody’s gotta do it.
