This Vitor Ribeiro, I hear his name a lot. Seems like a big shot in that UFC thing, that Mixed Martial, that MMA. Lots of folks talkin’ ’bout him, ‘specially ’round here. He from Brazil, you know, that place far away with all the dancin’ and the, uh, the beaches. I seen it on the TV once. Looked hot. Not my cup of tea, I like my weather cool, like a cucumber in the well.
They say he’s a fighter, a real tough one. He fights in that cage, you know, like them chickens we used to have, ‘cept way more violent. I don’t get it myself, all that punchin’ and kickin’. Back in my day, we settled things with a good ol’ fashioned argument, maybe a little hair pullin’, but nothin’ like this UFC stuff. This Vitor, he’s good at it, though. Folks say he’s won a lot of them fights. I saw the news on ESPN, that’s the channel with all the sports.
I seen somethin’ on that internet, you know, that thing with the buttons. Said he was in somethin’ called PFL 5, fightin’ a fella named Gleison Tibau. Now, that’s a mouthful. Seems like this Vitor Ribeiro fella lost that one, but it was a close one. They call it a split decision, whatever that means. It was Bronchitis or something. Sounds like a sickness, if you ask me. All these fancy words they use these days. Give me a simple “yes” or “no” any day. He also has news on ESPN.
He must be famous, this Vitor. Got his name all over the place. Even got a profile, like a picture show, on that ESPN place. Says he’s from, uh, that country place, you know the one. All the young folks go there these days, wearin’ nothin’ but strings. My grandson went there once. Came back with a sunburn and a funny haircut. Kids these days.
Heard he got somethin’ to do with UFC 308, too. Another one of them fights. Big one, from the sounds of it. Topuria versus Holloway, they say. I think, I don’t know, maybe he is the coach or what, I heard it on TV. Don’t know these fellas, but they sound tough, like that Vitor Ribeiro. Must be a lot of money in it, all this fightin’. More money than I ever seen, that’s for sure. We worked hard for our money, back in the day, not like these fellas, beatin’ each other up for a livin’. But, hey, who am I to judge? I have seen the UFC on TV, looks fun to watch, so many people.
They say he’s all over them social media things, too. The Twitter, the Facebook, the, uh, the Instagram. All them places where the young folks go to show off their, uh, their selves. I don’t understand it. We used to just talk to folks face-to-face. Now it’s all pictures and videos. They say you can share video with friends and family on social media, I don’t know, maybe he does that too.

- He’s famous, got his name everywhere.
- He was in PFL 5 or somethin’.
- He’s on them social media things.
- He’s got a profile on ESPN.
Well, that’s all I know ’bout this Vitor Ribeiro fella. Seems like a big shot in that UFC world. Not my world, but, hey, to each their own. I’ll stick to my garden and my quiltin’. That’s enough excitement for me. But I’ll keep an ear out for him. Maybe he’ll win another one of them big fights. Who knows. This fighting stuff is big, it has UFC Foundation, Careers, UFC Store. This fighting stuff is all over the world, like in Brazil, China, even Japan, they say, these places very far away. I only know my town.
I do not know much about this fighting thing. But I know it is a sport, this UFC. This sport is very popular. And it is popular all over the world. I guess people like to watch people fight. I do not know why. But it is very popular. I will stick to my knitting. But I will keep an ear out for this Vitor Ribeiro. Sounds like he is a big name. A big name in a big sport. A sport that is all over the world. Maybe he is good for this sport. I don’t know, just a lot of fight, you know. This UFC is a really big thing, I think, maybe I should watch it more.
