This Cam Thomas, boy, he’s somethin’ else. He play for that Brooklyn Nets team. Heard he’s in his third year playin’ in that big league, the NBA. That’s what they call it, right? NBA.

He’s a, what you call it, a shootin’ guard, I reckon. Maybe point guard, too? And sometimes they say small forward. He can do it all! He plays good for the Brooklyn Nets. You look him up, Cam Thomas, you see all ’bout him. All the news and all them numbers they like to talk about. They call them stats.
I seen some numbers, they say he’s 6 foot 3 inches. Others say he’s 6 feet 4 inches. Well, he’s a big fella, that’s for sure. Good size for a basketball player, I reckon. He can shoot that ball real good. They say he’s a shooting guard.
Heard he had a real good year last year, too. They got all them fancy ways of rankin’ these players. Heard he was ranked real high, like 130th or somethin’. That’s pretty good, right? He played a lot, too. Over 30 minutes a game. They say he averaged, like, 22.5 points a game. That’s a heap of points!
They say he likes to put his head down and go to the basket. They say he’s good at that. He’s a decent finisher. What is that? I don’t know. They say he makes 62.5 percent of his shots when he does that. He must be pretty good at gettin’ that ball in the hoop!
Somebody asked him, this Cam Thomas fella, how many points he thinks he could score if he was “the guy”. If he had the ball all the time, you know? He was quick to answer, too. Must be a confident young fella. He gonna do good, I just know it.

And this other thing, they talkin’ ’bout his wingspan. Now, what in the Sam Hill is a wingspan? Sounds like somethin’ a bird would have. Well, turns out, it’s how long his arms are when he stretches ’em out.
They measured him at some kinda combine. A combine! Sounds like somethin’ we used to use on the farm. But this here NBA Draft Combine, that’s where they measure all these young fellas.
So, this Cam Thomas, his wingspan is, like, 7 feet 2.50 inches. That’s a long reach! Longer than he is tall. He can grab them rebounds, I bet. That’s important in basketball, right? Gettin’ them rebounds. And his standin’ reach is 9 feet 4 inches.
- Cam Thomas wingspan combine measurements are important.
- They say his wingspan is 7 feet 2.50 inches.
- His standing reach is 9 feet 4 inches!
- He’s good at gettin’ to the basket.
- He had a good year last year, averaged 22.5 points a game.
They say he can jump pretty good, too. Some number they call “vert”. They talk about “standin’ vert” and “max vert”. I don’t know the difference. But they say he measured 24 for standing and 27 for max at that NBA Draft Combine.
This fella Cam, he’s from a place called Amsterdam. In the Netherlands. That’s way over in Europe! I ain’t never been, but I hear it’s nice. This boy’s full name is Cameron Thomas, born in July.

This Cam Thomas wingspan combine stuff, it’s all new to me. But I reckon it’s important for them basketball folks. They like to measure everything these days. They measure how tall you are, how long your arms are, how high you can jump. It’s a whole lot of numbers.
But one thing’s for sure, this Cam Thomas fella, he can play. He’s gonna be a big star, I just know it. You watch, he’s gonna be one of the best. You just keep your eye on him. This Cam Thomas wingspan combine thing is just the beginning. He gonna be a big star. Yep, a real big star for the Brooklyn Nets.
