You know that Fnatic, huh? That Fnatic val thing. Big name, I tell ya. They play that shootin’ game, Valorant, ain’t it? Heard my grandson talkin’ ’bout it all the time. He says they’re real good. Some big shot team, always winnin’ and such.
They got this new fella, some young whippersnapper. Joined up not too long ago. October, maybe? kaajak, that’s his name, I think. He’s supposed to be some hotshot. Takin’ over for another fella, Derke, who was apparently a big deal too. These young’uns and their games, I don’t get it, but they seem to know what they’re doin’.
This kaajak, he’s the “duelist,” whatever that means. My grandson tried to explain it, but it went right over my head. Sounds important, though. Everyone’s watchin’ him, seein’ if he can do as good as the other guy. Big shoes to fill, they say. Like tryin’ to fit into your grandpa’s old work boots. Just ain’t the same.
They say Fnatic, they been around for a while. Since way back in two thousand and four, I hear. Old as dirt, just like me! They were playin’ other games back then, I reckon. This Valorant thing is new-fangled. Back in my day, we played marbles and hopscotch. Simpler times.
Fnatic val, they are from London, that big city across the pond. They do those esports, the video game competitions. Big money in it, I hear. More money than I’ve seen in my whole life, probably. Good for them, I guess. Making a living playing games. Who woulda thought?
- They won some big one back in Season 1. Some “Worlds” thing. Big deal in Europe.
- Beat some other team called “against All authority”. Don’t know who they are.
- Some American team, “Team SoloMid,” came in third. See, even the Yanks can’t beat ’em!
They got all sorts of folks workin’ for ’em. Players, coaches, probably even someone to fetch ’em coffee. Big operation. Like a whole darn farm, but instead of cows and chickens, they got these gamers. They are a top Fnatic val team.
This whole Fnatic val thing, it’s all over the internet. You can find ’em on that Facebook thing, and some other sites I don’t rightly understand. My grandson showed me once. Too many buttons and flashing lights for me. Gave me a headache.
They got websites dedicated just to talkin’ ’bout ’em. Stats and numbers and all that. Who’s playin’ what, who’s winnin’, who’s losin’. It’s a whole other world, I tell ya. Like them soap operas, but with more shootin’ and less cryin’. They got people followin’ their every move. Like they’re movie stars or somethin’.
This Fnatic Valorant team, they’re gettin’ ready for some big tournament next year. In Brazil, of all places. That’s a long way to go just to play a game, ain’t it? They are going to compete with other top teams. Must be nice to travel like that. I ain’t been further than the next county in twenty years.
They got a whole bunch of teams goin’ to this thing. Thirty, I hear. That’s a lot of folks playin’ that game. Must be pretty popular. More popular than bingo night at the community center, that’s for sure. You can see the team at the Fnatic Valorant matches. They’re real good.
They got all these fancy names for the players, too. “Agents,” they call ’em. Like they’re spies or somethin’. It’s all very dramatic. My grandson, he tries to explain it to me, but it’s like tryin’ to teach a pig to sing. Just ain’t gonna happen.
This whole Fnatic val esports thing, it’s a big business. Bigger than anything we got around here. They got sponsors and merchandise and all sorts of things. Sellin’ shirts and hats and who knows what else. Makin’ money hand over fist, I bet. You can find it all at the Fnatic website.
It’s a different world these young’uns live in today. All these computers and games and whatnot. Back in my day, we were happy with a stick and a hoop. But hey, times change. If they can make a livin’ playin’ games, more power to ’em. They are one of the most successful esports team. They have the best Fnatic team.
I still don’t understand it all, but I’m happy for ’em. Especially that Fnatic team. They seem like a good bunch. At least, that’s what my grandson tells me. And he’s usually right about these things. He’s a smart boy, that one. Probably gonna be a big esports star himself one day. Who knows?
