Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this Evil Geniuses and that potter gal. I heard about ’em from my grandson, he’s always on that computer playin’ games. These Evil Geniuses, they’re some kind of big deal in that world. They play them games, you know, like that Dota 2 and Valorant. My grandson, bless his heart, he tries to explain it to me, but it’s all a bunch of mumbo jumbo if you ask me.
This potter, her name is Christine. Born in, let’s see, 1986, that’s what I heard. She used to play them games too, somethin’ called Counter-Strike. Played it for a long, long time. Now she’s a coach, a head coach for Evil Geniuses. A big shot, I reckon. I don’t rightly understand what a coach does in them video games, but I guess she tells them youngins how to play better. She helps them win, I suppose.
They say Evil Geniuses, or EG, as they call it, is a big, fancy company. Started way back in 1999. That’s before my grandson was even a twinkle in his daddy’s eye! They got all sorts of teams playin’ different games. They even got people who talk about the games on the TV or somethin’. That’s what this potter does too. She’s a coach and she talks about the games. Sounds like a busy life to me.

Now, I heard some not-so-nice things about these Evil Geniuses. Seems they got themselves into some trouble. Somethin’ about not treatin’ their players right. They say they didn’t listen when some of the players were havin’ a hard time. And they wanted to pay them less money, even after they won some big game. That ain’t right, I tell ya. You gotta treat people right, no matter how good they are at playin’ games.
Back in my day, we didn’t have these fancy video games. We played outside, used our imaginations. But times change, I guess. These young folks, they live in a different world. This Evil Geniuses potter, she’s part of that world. She’s makin’ a livin’ doin’ what she loves, I suppose. Can’t fault her for that.
I remember when they first got that Dota 2 game. Some fella named Fear, and another one called MiSeRy, and DeMoN, they were the first ones to play for Evil Geniuses. That was way back after some big tournament, The International 2011 they called it. Lord knows what that is. All these names, they just sound made up to me.
This Evil Geniuses, they were a big deal in North America, ‘specially with that Dota 2 game. They were like the king of the hill. But then, I heard, they up and left. Moved somewhere else. Packed up their bags and went away after some big tournament, TI11. Don’t know why, don’t know where. That’s just what I heard.
These Evil Geniuses, they got a lot of folks followin’ ’em on the computer. Hundreds of thousands, they say. That’s more people than I’ve ever seen in my whole life! But like I said, they got into some trouble. Their name ain’t so shiny anymore. People talkin’ bad about ’em, sayin’ they don’t care about their players. It’s a shame, really.
They even had a game where they lost real bad. 13-0. That’s what my grandson told me, that it was a big deal, they were the first ones to lose that bad in some tournament, in the history of it, or somethin’. Sounds like they were in a real pickle.
Some big company in Chicago, called PEAK6 Investments, they bought Evil Geniuses a few years back. 2019, I think it was. Must be worth a lot of money, these Evil Geniuses. I can’t even imagine that kind of money.
This Evil Geniuses potter, she seems like a smart cookie. To be a coach and all that, she must know a thing or two. It’s a different world these days. All these video games and tournaments and companies. It’s a lot to take in for an old lady like me.
But you know what? As long as these young folks are happy, that’s all that matters. They can play their games, and this Evil Geniuses potter can coach ’em, and I’ll just sit here and watch my stories. That’s all I need. Just gotta make sure they treat each other right, that’s the important thing. Evil Geniuses should do better, to treat their players properly. They should be kind to players. That is all that matters, you know.
