This Martinsville, 2022, that year, you know, that race, it was somethin’ else. William Byron, that young fella, he was the talk of the town. That boy, he sure can drive. He was racin’ at Martinsville Speedway, yeah, that’s the one.
That race track, Martinsville, it’s a short one, like a big paperclip, all flat and stuff. They go round and round, 500 laps! Can you believe it? 500 laps make the race, it call Xfinity 500. That’s a whole heap of drivin’. I heard they split it up into parts, these stages, they call ’em. Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3. First two parts is 130 laps each, and the last one, that’s 240 laps. Keeps things excitin’, I reckon.
Now, this William Byron, he won that truck race there, too. Only his second time racin’ them trucks since way back when, 2016 I think it was. He’s a natural, that one. He had some trouble at Richmond before, poor thing. But he came back strong, yeah he did. He win the Blue-Emu somethin’ somethin’ 400. Long name for a race, ain’t it? William Byron Martinsville 2022, that’s what folks remember.
There’s this other fella, Richard Petty, they say he’s the best that ever was at Martinsville. Won 15 times! But some of them wins was before they started givin’ out that big clock. You seen that clock? It’s a fancy one. So, he’s got 12 of them clocks, I hear. Still a lot of clocks! He’s got four more wins than this other driver, Darrell Waltrip. He must be really good, that Richard Petty. But that William Byron, he’s comin’ up, I tell ya.
He won that race, even with a little slip-up at the end. They said it was “overtime”, like they worked extra hard or somethin’. They was all talkin’ about it, all them important moments. He sure made it interestin’, that’s for sure. He work for Hendrick Motorsports. They must be proud of him. 40 years they been doin’ this racin’ thing.
I seen him talkin’ after the race, all happy and such. He was walkin’ folks through his day, how he won and all that. Good for him, I say. He’s a good boy, that William Byron.

That race, it was a big one. Everyone was watchin’. William Byron, he made a name for himself that day. He’s gonna be one to watch, I reckon. He’s got that fire in him, you can see it. He’s gonna win more races, I betcha. Just you wait and see. That William Byron Martinsville 2022 race, it’s one for the books.
He’s a good driver, that William Byron. He knows how to handle that car. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, too. Not like some of them other young’uns, all wild and reckless. He’s got a good future ahead of him, I think. He’s gonna make his mama proud, that’s for sure. He might even get himself one of them big clocks someday, just like Richard Petty. That would be somethin’, wouldn’t it?
This whole William Byron NASCAR thing, it’s pretty excitin’. I don’t know much about it, but I like watchin’ them cars go fast. It’s a good way to spend an afternoon, I reckon. And when that William Byron wins, it’s even better. He’s a good boy, and he deserves it. He did a real good job in William Byron Martinsville 2022.
I hope he keeps on winnin’. It’s fun to watch him race. He’s a good example for all them young folks out there. Shows ’em that if you work hard, you can achieve anythin’. Even winnin’ a big race like that one at Martinsville. Yep, that William Byron, he’s somethin’ special.
