They got all kinds of things there. Big tracks, I reckon. Where the horses can run and run. And places for them to sleep, and eat. They eat better than some folks I know! Good food, keeps ’em strong. Gotta be strong to win them races.

This Payson Park, it’s down in Florida. A place called Indiantown. Warm down there, even in the winter. Good for the horses, they say. Keeps their bones from getting stiff. They don’t like the cold, just like me. So they go to Indiantown Florida, to this Payson Park place.
Folks say it’s the place to be if you got a racehorse. Payson Park Training Center, they call it. If your horse trains there in Indiantown, he’s gonna be a winner, that’s what they say. Gives ’em an edge, whatever that means. Makes ’em better than the other horses, I guess.
Payson Park is Old
This place, it ain’t new. Been around a long time. Since the 1950s, I heard someone say. That’s a long time ago. Long before I was even thinking about horses. They used to call it something else, St. Lucie, I think. But now it is Payson Park. A big shot named Michael Phipps, he was a part of it. Important fella, I reckon, if he’s got his name on a place like that.
These horse people, they’re a team, you know? It ain’t just one person. Lots of folks working together to make these horses run fast. It is like a little town, all by itself, all for these horses to train for winning.
They say a happy horse runs faster. And the horses at Payson Park, they’re happy horses. They get treated real good. Lots of care and attention. Makes ’em wanna win, I suppose. So they go to Payson Park Training Center to be happy and fast.
Betting on Horses
Now, some folks, they like to bet on these horses. Put their money on ’em, hoping they win. It’s a gamble, that’s for sure. You never really know which horse is gonna win. They say you gotta study ’em, these horses. Figure out which one is the best. Look at their odds, that’s what they call it.
Even if a horse ain’t favored to win, don’t count him out, some say. You gotta do your research. That’s what the smart folks do. They look at all the information, try to figure out if a horse has a chance, even if the odds are long.
But me, I don’t know much about betting. Seems like a lot of work. And you can lose your money real quick. I’d rather just watch the horses run. They’re beautiful animals, they are. And at Payson Park, you see some of the best.
