Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again. Today, I’m gonna walk you through my little adventure with a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R. You know, that bike’s got some buzz around it, some say it’s awesome, some say it’s got issues. Well, I got my hands on one, and let me tell you, it’s been a ride, literally and figuratively.

Getting Started
First off, I snagged this bike thinking it was gonna be smooth sailing. I mean, who doesn’t love a good Ninja, right? The 07 ZX6R, she’s a beauty, but boy, was I in for a surprise. I started noticing some stuff pretty early on.
The Hiccups
- Weeping Gaskets: Yeah, you heard that right. Apparently, it’s a thing with these models. I started seeing some oil around the valve gaskets. Not cool. Not a massive leak, but enough to make you go “hmm.”
- High RPM Bogging: This one was a bit annoying. When I tried to push her, sometimes she’d just bog down. Like, come on, I thought we were in this together! I did some digging, and it seems like it’s not just me who’s had this issue.
- Rough Idle: Sometimes, when I’d start her up, the idle would be all over the place. Not the worst thing in the world, but definitely not what you want from your trusty steed.
Digging Deeper
So, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. Checked the kickstand sensor, ’cause why not? It’s always the simple things, right? It was fine. Checked the fuel, obviously it had gas, come on now!
Fixes and Tweaks
For the weeping gaskets, I ended up replacing them. It wasn’t too bad of a job, just had to get my hands dirty. The high RPM bogging, that took a bit more effort. I cleaned the fuel injectors, checked the air filter, and played around with the fuel mixture. Eventually, I got it running smoother. The rough idle, I found out it was related to the throttle bodies. Cleaned those up, and it helped a lot.
Final Thoughts
All in all, the 07 ZX6R is a solid bike, but she’s not without her quirks. If you’re thinking about getting one, just be prepared to do a little wrenching. It’s not all bad, though. I learned a lot about the bike, and honestly, I feel more connected to her now. Would I do it all over again? Probably. There’s just something about bringing a machine back to life that’s satisfying as hell.
That’s my story, folks. Hope you enjoyed the ride. Catch you on the next one!
