Okay, so I went to Citi Field the other day, and let me tell you, figuring out the parking situation was a bit of a thing. I did some digging beforehand, cause nobody likes surprise fees, right?

First off, I checked the official info. It said that for regular Mets games, parking is gonna set you back 40 bucks for a regular car and 80 for those big vans or whatever. And get this, for postseason games or special events, it jumps to 60 and 120 bucks! Crazy, right? I also found that the lots open up an hour before the gates, which is good to know.
Then I looked around for other tips. Apparently, there’s a place called Pork Chop Hill, which is like their designated spot for buses and oversized vehicles. And for regular cars, there’s the Commuter Lot, also called Southfield. Now, here’s a trick I found: if you get there super early, you can sometimes snag parking for just 5 bucks before the regular prices kick in. That’s what some folks online were saying, anyway. I didn’t try it myself this time, but maybe next time I’ll get there earlier.
I also tried to see if I could buy a parking pass in advance, you know, to save some hassle. But from what I saw, they don’t sell single-game passes ahead of time. You gotta pay when you get there. Oh, and another thing I noticed – they’re pretty strict about bags. You can’t bring backpacks into Citi Field, except for some specific types. Better check their bag policy beforehand.
So, the day of the game, I drove over, and found that all the parking lots open up two and a half hours before the game starts. My game was at 5:00 PM, so the lots opened at 2:30 PM. I got there, paid my 40 bucks, and found a spot.
It wasn’t too bad in the end, but it’s definitely something to plan for. Especially with those prices! Next time, I might try that early bird 5-dollar parking trick, or maybe just take the train. We’ll see!

- Regular Season Parking: $40 per car.
- Postseason/Special Events Parking: $60 per car.
- Lots Open: 2.5 hours before game time, one hour before the gates open.
- Early Bird Special: Some folks say you can get $5 parking if you’re super early at the Commuter Lot, before regular rates apply.
- No Single-Game Prepaid Passes: You pay when you arrive.
- Bag Policy: No backpacks, better check the rules online.
My Two Cents
All in all, Citi Field parking is a bit pricey, but manageable if you know what to expect. Do your research, get there on time, and maybe try that early bird trick if you’re feeling adventurous!
