Alright, so, I’ve been riding this BMW K1300S for a while now, and I figured it’s time to share my experiences, especially regarding maintenance. This bike, it’s a beast, but it’s also pretty straightforward to take care of, as long as you keep up with it.

First off, I got this bike a few years back. It’s a 2010 model, so it’s not brand new, but it had pretty low mileage when I picked it up. The previous owner took good care of it, which made my life a lot easier. I started by just riding it, getting a feel for it, you know? The power, the handling, it’s all impressive. This thing’s got a 1293cc engine, so it’s no slouch.
Maintenance-wise, I learned a few things. The first major thing I tackled was the oil change. I do this religiously every 5,000 kilometers. I know some guys stretch it out, but I’m not about that. Fresh oil keeps this engine running smooth. It’s not hard, either. Just warm up the bike, drain the old oil, replace the filter, and pour in the new stuff. Easy peasy.
- The axle grease and valvoline, that’s another story. I do that every 25,000 kilometers. It’s a bit more involved, you need to get the bike up on a stand, and it can get messy, but it’s crucial for the long-term health of the bike.
- Brake and clutch fluids, I flush those every two years. It’s important to keep those fluids fresh because they absorb moisture over time, and that can lead to problems. Plus, it keeps the controls feeling crisp and responsive.
Now, I’ve heard some people complain about the cost of these bikes compared to the competition, and yeah, they’re not cheap. But in my experience, you get what you pay for. This bike is solid, it’s reliable, and it’s a blast to ride.
I’ve put about 36,000 kilometers on this bike, and I haven’t had any major issues. A few minor things here and there, but nothing that’s left me stranded.
So, that’s my experience with the BMW K1300S. It’s a fantastic machine, and if you’re willing to put in the time and effort to maintain it, it’ll reward you with years of riding pleasure.
