Alright, folks, gather ’round, let me tell you about this thing I got into today. So, I’ve been following the Liga MX for a while now, and I saw this upcoming match – MTY vs Necaxa. Thought it’d be fun to dig into it, see what’s what.
First thing I did was look up when they’re playing. One piece said February 2nd, 2025, at 1:00 UTC, which is, you know, way in the future. Another one said August 6th, 2024, at 0:00 UTC. And get this, there’s even a mention of July 18th, 2024. Seems like there are a couple of different matches or maybe some confusion about the dates. I put these two matches in the schedule of my calendar.
Next, I wanted to see how these two teams stack up against each other. Their head-to-head, you know? Found out that in their last 20 face-offs, Necaxa’s only managed to win 4 times, while Monterrey’s bagged it 10 times. Doesn’t look too good for Necaxa on paper, but hey, that’s why they play the game, right?
Then I checked out the stats from their matches in the 2019/2020 season. Just wanted to see who the big scorers were, who held onto the ball more, that kind of stuff. I recorded their scoring and possession rates in a table.
Also, I went to see where this whole thing is going down. Turns out, it’s at the Estadio BBVA stadium in Monterrey city, Mexico. Sounds like a pretty big deal. I took a note to find the exact address of the stadium later.
And there’s talk about lineups, but those are usually announced closer to the match. They said the actual lineup would be out about an hour before the game starts. I thought it would be interesting to compare the predicted lineups with the actual ones. So I marked that down, too.
