Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this thing called “Bingo Bango Bongo.” Sounds kinda silly, right? But it’s actually a pretty fun little game you can play on the golf course. I figured I’d share my experience figuring it out and playing it with my buddies last weekend. We’re not pros or anything, just a bunch of guys who like to get out on the green and have a laugh, you know?

So, here’s how this whole thing started. My buddy, Mark, he’s always looking up weird golf games. One day he tells us about this “Bingo Bango Bongo” thing. We all had a good chuckle at the name, but he insisted it was a blast. I was like, “Alright, let’s give it a shot.”
We looked it up, and basically, it’s a points game. You get points for doing certain things first on each hole. First, there’s “Bingo.” That’s for being the first guy to get your ball on the green. Easy enough, right? We’re all pretty decent at getting it on there, some days better than others, of course. I managed to snag a few “Bingo” points throughout the round, feeling pretty good about that.
Then there’s “Bango.” This one’s a bit trickier. Once everyone’s balls are on the green, the person closest to the pin gets the “Bango” point. This one caused some serious competition. We were all pulling out our rangefinders, trying to see who was really the closest. There was some good-natured arguing, of course, all in good fun. My short game isn’t always the best, but I did manage to sneak in a couple of “Bango” points. Beginner’s luck, maybe?
And finally, “Bongo.” That’s the easiest one to understand. Whoever gets their ball in the hole first, gets the “Bongo.” You’d think that’d be the easiest point to get, but with the pressure on, even the shortest putts can be a challenge. My putting was a bit off that day, so I didn’t get too many “Bongo” points, but I wasn’t last, so that’s something!
We decided to play for a dollar a point, just to make things interesting. Nothing too crazy, but enough to keep us invested. Here’s how a typical hole went down for us:

- Tee off: We all take our shots, hoping to get that “Bingo” point.
- Approach shots: Everyone’s trying to land it on the green.
- “Bingo” awarded: The first one on the green gets their point and bragging rights.
- “Bango” time: Out come the rangefinders, and we figure out who’s closest to the pin.
- Putting: Everyone’s trying to sink their putt for the “Bongo.”
- “Bongo” awarded: The first one to hole out gets the point and usually does a little victory dance.
- Tally the points: We jot down the points on our scorecards.
We played a full 18 holes, and let me tell you, it was a lot more fun than our usual rounds. It added a whole new level of strategy and competition. We were laughing, trash-talking, and really getting into it. Even the guys who weren’t playing their best still had a chance to win some points, which kept everyone engaged.
At the end of the round, we tallied up all the points. Mark, the guy who introduced us to the game, ended up winning the most money. I think he might have been hustling us! But we all had a great time, and that’s what really matters.
My takeaway from playing Bingo Bango Bongo?
It’s a great game for a group of friends who just want to have some fun on the course. It’s easy to learn, and it keeps everyone involved, no matter their skill level. Plus, the name is just ridiculous, which makes it even better. I’d definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for something different to spice up your next golf outing. Just don’t take it too seriously, and remember to have fun with it!
