Okay, so yesterday I was all hyped up to watch the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. I mean, who wouldn’t be? It’s Tyson! And I heard it was going to be live on Netflix, which I already have, so I thought, “Perfect!” But then, come fight night, I couldn’t find it anywhere on Netflix. Talk about a letdown.

First, I checked my subscription, thinking maybe I was on some basic plan that didn’t include live events. Nope, I’m on the premium plan. So that wasn’t it. Then, I started frantically searching online, and found out that the fight was available to all Netflix subscribers, regardless of the plan type. So now I’m really confused.
I jumped onto the Most Valuable Promotions’ YouTube channel because I saw somewhere that the earlier fights were going to be streamed there. And yeah, I found those, but no Tyson. I was starting to think maybe I got the date wrong or something. So I double-checked, and nope, it was definitely supposed to be November 15th at the ATT Stadium in Arlington.
Digging Deeper
I kept digging, reading through articles and forums, and I finally stumbled upon a little detail that changed everything. It turns out that even though the fight is on Netflix, your device’s app or software needs to be up-to-date to support livestreaming. I checked my TV’s Netflix app, and sure enough, it was an older version.
- Checked my Netflix subscription plan (premium, so all good).
- Searched online and confirmed the fight was for all subscribers.
- Found earlier fights on YouTube, but not the main event.
- Verified the date and location of the fight (November 15th, ATT Stadium).
- Discovered that the Netflix app needs to be updated for livestreaming.
So, I updated the app, and guess what? There it was! The fight was right there, ready to be streamed. I felt like such an idiot for not checking that earlier, but hey, at least I figured it out. Although, now that I think about it, the fight would have already happened, so I would need to find the replay.
So, for anyone else who might run into this issue, make sure your Netflix app is updated. That’s the key. Now I know for next time, and hopefully, this little adventure of mine helps someone else out there avoid the same frustration. I also heard that the broadcast had live commentary in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, and German, so that’s pretty cool. I just hope the replay is available in all those languages too.

And oh, apparently, Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson by UD8. I guess I missed a pretty interesting fight. Hopefully the replay will be just as exciting. Also, there was a bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, which I really wanted to see. I guess I have a lot of catching up to do!
Anyway, that’s my story of how a simple app update was the solution to my missing fight night drama. Lesson learned!
