Alright, guys, so I was messing around with this NYT Mini Crossword puzzle thing the other day, and let me tell you, it was a trip. I started with the clue “Looks behind couches and curtains,” you know, like when you’re on a serious hunt for something you’ve lost.

So I’m wracking my brain, trying to think of what word they’re looking for. First thing I did was grab my phone and start poking around the internet for help. I stumbled upon a bunch of forums and articles giving advice on how to find lost stuff.
Some folks were saying, “Check your coat pockets!” like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. Others were like, “Get a flashlight and lay it on the floor to spot tiny objects.” Sounds reasonable, right? I mean, I’ve definitely done the flashlight thing before, and it kind of works. It’s like, you turn the beam on, and it forces you to focus on just one little area at a time, which is pretty useful when you’re looking for something specific.
But still, no dice on the crossword answer. I kept digging, found some pages talking about the actual crossword clue, like this one site that lists all the Mini Crossword answers by date. I thought, “Bingo, this is it!” But nope, still couldn’t crack the code.
Then I found another page, this one specifically about the September 12th puzzle. It had a whole explanation about how crossword puzzles are a good way to keep your brain in shape, which, yeah, I can see that. They’re like a little mental workout.
After all that searching and reading, I finally decided to just try and solve it on my own. I went back to the puzzle, stared at that clue, and then it hit me, and I was finally able to see the answer. It was right there all along.

So yeah, that’s my little adventure with the NYT Mini Crossword. It was a bit of a wild goose chase, but hey, I got there in the end. And I guess I learned a thing or two about finding lost objects along the way. Plus, I got a little brain exercise, so that’s always a win.
