Okay, so, I wanted to see how fast my CBR 600 could really go. I’d heard all kinds of things, but I needed to find out for myself. The first thing I did was find a good, long, straight stretch of road. Safety first, right? It was early in the morning, hardly any cars around, perfect conditions.

I geared up, did my usual pre-ride checks—tires, brakes, you know the drill. I took a deep breath and started her up. Man, I love that sound. The plan was simple: get a feel for how the bike handled at increasing speeds, and then really open it up.
I started off slow, gradually increasing my speed. The bike felt solid, responsive. I got it up to 60 mph, then 80, then 100. The wind was really hitting me by this point, but the bike was still handling like a dream. I was gripping the handlebars tight, trying to stay as low as possible. Feeling the acceleration really pushed me into the seat.
- 60 mph: Felt like nothing.
- 80 mph: Starting to feel the wind.
- 100 mph: Okay, this is getting serious.
I pushed it further, 120, 130, the engine was screaming, and the wind was insane. My helmet felt like it was going to rip off. I was basically glued to the tank at this point, just trying to hold on. I saw the needle hit 140, then 150, and I knew I was close to the limit, both mine and the bike’s. The road in front of me was getting more narrow. It’s really hard to keep my eyes on the road.
The Final Push
I glanced at the speedometer one last time—160 mph. The bike was vibrating like crazy, and I could feel every little bump in the road. I decided that was it, time to back off. I gradually eased off the throttle, letting the bike slow down naturally. It took a while to get back to a normal speed, and my heart was still pounding like crazy.
It was an insane experience, pushing the bike that hard. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again anytime soon, but at least now I know what my CBR 600 is capable of. It’s definitely one for the books!

After that, I took it easy the rest of the way home. Thinking about what just happened.
Man, that was wild!
