Today I’m gonna tell you about my little adventure with the Suzuki Bandit 600. This bike, man, it’s something else. So, I got my hands on one a while back, thinking it would be a fun project. And boy, was I right.

First off, this thing’s from ’95, a classic. When I first saw it, I thought, “This is it. This is the one.” It just had that look, you know? The naked N model, it’s called. But I was more into the S model with the semi-fairing. Anyway, I started with the N.
Getting Started
- Took a good look at the bike. It was in decent shape, but needed some love.
- Checked the engine – a 599cc thing. Sounded alright when I fired it up.
My first move was to add a screen to it. I mean, riding without one at higher speeds? No thanks. It was pretty straightforward, bolting it on. Made a huge difference in deflecting the wind. Felt much better riding it after that.
Making It Faster
Now, I wanted more oomph. I heard from some folks online that an ignition advancer and a larger rear sprocket could do the trick. So, I went for it.

- Got the parts – wasn’t too expensive. Always looking for that cheap thrill, right?
- Installed them. Took a bit of elbow grease, but I managed.
After these tweaks, oh man, the Bandit felt sharper. It accelerated quicker, just like I wanted. It was like a new bike!
Riding and Touring
Riding this thing is a dream. The seat’s comfy, and the suspension is soft. I even thought about taking it on longer trips. It’s definitely doable on this bike.
- Took it out on some longer rides. Handled like a champ.
- Realized it’s a pretty good all-rounder. City riding, a bit of touring, it does it all.
Looking at the Specs
I got curious about the other stuff, like the rear monoshock. It’s got adjustable preload and rebound damping. Fancy, huh? This bike’s got quality parts, no doubt about it.

The Verdict
So, here’s the thing about the Suzuki Bandit 600 – it’s a gem. For a bike that was a steal back in ’95, it’s held up incredibly well. It’s got style, it’s got quality, and with a few tweaks, it’s got speed. If you’re thinking about getting a bike that’s fun, reliable, and won’t break the bank, give the Bandit a look. I’m telling you, it’s worth it.
This whole experience with the Bandit, it’s been a blast. It’s not just a bike; it’s a project, a hobby, a passion. And I’m just getting started.
