Alright, so I got my hands dirty trying to recreate that special AlphaTauri livery they ran in Miami. You know the one, with the kind of watery, teal look? Looked pretty sharp on TV, so I figured, why not try and slap it onto one of my digital cars.

Getting Started – The Hunt for Pics
First thing I did was just jump online. Needed good reference pictures, right? Spent a fair bit just scrolling through images, trying to find shots from all angles. You really need to see the top, sides, front, back… everything. Zoomed right in on the sponsors, the little details, the way the colors blended. You notice way more stuff when you’re actually trying to copy it.
Laying Down the Base
Okay, references gathered. Fired up the game’s livery editor. Started with the main colors. That teal blue, or whatever you call it, went on first across the back and engine cover area. Then the white for the front and parts of the sidepods. Getting the exact shade right is always a bit tricky with these editors, you kinda have to eyeball it and hope for the best. Took a few tries adjusting the color sliders until it felt close enough.
Stickers, Stickers Everywhere
This is where it gets fiddly. Placing all those sponsor logos. Man, this takes time.
- Started with the big ones, like the main AlphaTauri text on the side and the engine cover. Gotta get the size and angle right.
- Then moved onto the others. You know, the red circle one, the tech sponsors on the nose and wings.
- Positioning is key. Kept flicking back to my reference pics. Nudge it left, rotate it a bit, resize it… repeat like a hundred times.
- Some logos are just awkward shapes or have tiny text. Had to simplify a few bits where the editor just couldn’t handle the detail. Can’t win ’em all.
The Miami Flair & Finishing Up
Now for the special Miami bits. That light blue wavy pattern that looked like water reflections. This was tough. The editor doesn’t have a “Miami water effect” button, obviously. So, I had to get creative. Used some basic shape tools, layered some blues and whites, tried to get that flowing look along the sidepods and nose. It’s not perfect, definitely an interpretation, but it gives the right vibe.
Added the smaller details next. Little sponsor tags on the bargeboards, driver numbers, the F1 logos. Checked everything against the pictures one last time. Tweaked a few placements that looked off. You always spot something right at the end.

How It Turned Out
So, after a good chunk of time messing around, I finally saved it. Stepped back and took a look. You know what? Pretty pleased. It’s not a professional job, and comparing it pixel-for-pixel to the real thing, you’d find differences. The colors might be a shade off, some logos aren’t super crisp because of the editor limits.
But honestly, it looks like the Miami AlphaTauri. Captures the feel of it. And doing it yourself, figuring out how to make the shapes and place the logos, it’s satisfying. Way better than just downloading someone else’s work. Gives you a bit more appreciation for the designers who do the real thing too.
Anyway, that was my little project. Fun way to spend an afternoon. Now I’ve got a unique looking car to race around in.
