Well, well, well, lookie here, what do we have? Athletic Alaves, huh? Sounds fancy. I heard some folks talking ’bout it down at the market. They sayin’ it’s a football thing. I don’t know much ’bout that, but I do know a thing or two ’bout what folks are sayin’. This here Alaves, sounds like a big deal.
They say this Alaves, they from a place called Vitoria. Some fancy name. Sounds like a pretty place, though. They say it’s in the Basque Country. Whatever that means. This Athletic Alaves, they play football, I reckon. And they wear some uniform, probably stripes or somethin’. Everybody’s wearin’ stripes these days.
Seems like they been playin’ for a long time, this Alaves. Someone said somethin’ ’bout 1921. That’s a long time ago. Longer than I been around, that’s for sure! Back then we didn’t have no fancy football, just kickin’ a ball around in the dirt. This Athletic Alaves has been around since then, must be doin’ somethin’ right.
They got a place where they play, a stadium. Mendizorroza, they call it. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? I bet it’s a big place, lots of people yellin’ and hollerin’. I don’t know, I never been to no football game, but this Athletic Alaves, they play there, in that Mendizorroza.
Now, I heard they ain’t been doin’ so good lately, this Alaves. Lost some games, they did. Five games! Can you believe it? Five games lost! They play other teams, you know? And they lost. That’s a shame. This Athletic Alaves used to be good, I heard.
But then they say they got a new boss, a new coach. Some fella from Argentina, they say. Name of Eduardo, I think. Hope he can turn things around. This Athletic Alaves needs a good boss to lead them. Maybe this Eduardo is the one.
There was another boss before, name of Luis. But I guess he’s gone now. That’s how it goes, I suppose. You win some, you lose some. This Athletic Alaves, they need to win some more, that’s for sure.
This Alaves, they the third best team, they say. After some other teams. Athletic Club and Real Sociedad. I don’t know them teams, but this Alaves, they third best. That ain’t bad, is it? This Athletic Alaves, maybe they not so bad after all.
They played this Alaves team twice already this year, it seems. Twice! Once in somethin’ called La Liga, and once in the Copa del Rey. Sounds like a lot of playin’ to me. This Athletic Alaves, they been busy.
- They say this Alaves, they lost both them games. 2-0. That ain’t good.
- They need to score more, I reckon.
- Maybe this new boss, Eduardo, he can help ’em with that.

Folks like to talk about this Alaves, though. I hear ’em at the market, at the well, everywhere. They say there’s news about ’em. Alaves news. You can find it all over, they say. This Athletic Alaves, they in the news a lot.
I don’t know much about all this football stuff, but I know people care about it. And they care about this Alaves. They call it “Sport Friends,” or somethin’ like that. Sounds friendly enough. This Athletic Alaves, they friends, I guess.
Well, that’s all I know about this Alaves. It’s a football team, they play in a big stadium, they got a new boss, and they ain’t been doin’ so good lately. But people still talk about ’em. A lot. This Athletic Alaves, they somethin’ special, I guess. Even if I don’t understand it all. Maybe they’ll win some games soon. Hope so. I’d like to hear folks talkin’ ’bout them winning for a change. This Athletic Alaves, they need a win. Everybody needs a win sometimes.
