These young fellas, they’re somethin’ to watch, though. Strong as oxen, some of ’em. And fast! They run and jump and slide all over that court. I don’t know how they do it. I’d be flat on my back after two steps, I reckon. This tennis is really hard.

They got this point system, too. Complicated stuff. Love, fifteen, thirty… I don’t rightly understand it. But the crowd sure gets excited when someone scores. Lots of yellin’ and clappin’. It’s a real spectacle, that’s what it is. Lots of people like watching it. They say it has one billion fans.
And the rackets! Back in my day, we didn’t have fancy rackets like that. We just used whatever we could find. These new rackets are very expensive. But these players are very rich. They can buy a lot of things. These players are strong, they hit the ball very hard. I think they can break the rackets.

Means you win a lot. And you get more money, too, I reckon. Money makes the world go round. I always say that.

These players, they travel all the time. From one tournament to the next. Must be tiring, all that travelin’. I ain’t never been much further than the next town over, myself. But these fellas, they go all over the world. ATP Challenger Punta del Este, it’s just one stop on their big tour.
It’s a fancy life, I suppose. Playin’ tennis, seein’ the world, makin’ lots of money. Not a bad gig if you can get it, I reckon. But it is very hard work. These players are very excellent. They practice a lot. Every day. For hours. But they are strong. They can do that. But it ain’t for me. I’m too old for that kind of carryin’ on. I’ll just stick to watchin’ from the sidelines. And maybe eatin’ some popcorn if I’m lucky!
