Alright, let’s talk about this… uh… Baltimore Orioles City Connect thingamajig. I ain’t no fancy sports expert, ya hear? Just a regular person tryin’ to make sense of it all. But I seen some things, and I heard some things, so let me tell ya what I know.

Now, these jerseys, they ain’t just any ol’ shirts. They supposed to be special. They got somethin’ to do with the city, Baltimore. They say it shows the “toughness and determination” of the city. Well, I reckon Baltimore folks are tough, alright. Seen a lot of hard times, they have. But they keep on goin’. Just like them baseball fellas, I guess.
- They got this word “Baltimore” written real big on the front. Can’t miss it, even if you got bad eyes like me.
- And then there’s all these colors and shapes on the collar and sleeves. They say it’s like the different neighborhoods in Baltimore. That’s kinda neat, I guess. Makes it feel like everyone’s part of the team.
- And wouldn’t you know it, they got pants too! Used to be just black ones, but now they got white ones too. Fancy that! A fella can change up his look, keep things interesting.
Now, where do you get these fancy jerseys and hats and whatnot? Seems like you can go to somethin’ called “MLB Shop Europe” online. That’s like a store on the computer, I think. My niece, she buys all sorts of stuff online. Me? I like goin’ to the store in person, but I guess that’s just the old-fashioned way.
And get this, they got some company, “T. Rowe Price,” puttin’ their name on the jerseys. On the sleeve, I think. They payin’ the team money, see? That’s how these things work. This Rowe Price fella, he was from Baltimore too, I heard. Started his company a long time ago. Guess he liked them Orioles.
The colors of the jersey, they’re orange and black. Always been the Orioles colors, as far as I can remember. My husband, bless his soul, he used to be a big Orioles fan. We’d listen to the games on the radio, back in the day. He’d get all excited, yellin’ at the radio like them fellas could hear him. Good times.
So, what’s the big deal about these “City Connect” things anyway? Seems like it’s a way to show some pride in the city, I guess. And to sell some jerseys, of course. Can’t forget about that. But hey, if it makes people happy, and it helps the team, then I reckon it’s alright. Ain’t hurtin’ nobody.
Now, they say these jerseys are “Vapor Premier”, which means they help the players move better. I don’t know about that, seems like a bunch of fancy talk to me. But them fellas are athletes, they need to be able to run and jump and swing that bat. So if these jerseys help them do that, then good for them. They make a lot of money, them fellas. Deserve good shirts, I guess.
The design is what they call “gritty”. Means it looks tough, I think. Like Baltimore, remember? It ain’t pretty and shiny, but it’s real. That’s what I like about it. No need for fancy frills. Just good, honest baseball.
And they got hats too, of course. Can’t have a baseball uniform without a hat. Gotta keep the sun outta your eyes, ya know. And they got all sorts of other gear, I hear. Shirts and hoodies and whatnot. For the fans, see? So they can show their support for the team.
