Man, I’ve been messing around with this whole Bears playoff odds thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started off just poking around the internet, trying to figure out what the chances are that the Bears make it to the playoffs this year.
First, I tried to find out what their odds were for making it to the Super Bowl. Turns out, those odds are sitting at +100000, which puts them at 21st in the NFL. It also says that they are ranked 25th according to a computer ranking. I also found out that the Bears’ Super Bowl odds are worse now (+100000) than they were before the season started (+3500).
Then I took a look at the schedule. Week 18 is the last week of the regular season. That means there won’t be any Thursday or Monday games. After two games on Saturday and 14 on Sunday, we’ll finally know who’s in the playoffs. With the recent update, 14 teams will get in.
- Checked out some sports betting sites: They had all sorts of numbers, and honestly, it got a little confusing. Some sites were more optimistic than others.
- Looked at some sports news sites: They had articles and analyses, but a lot of it was just people arguing and guessing. I did find out that all probabilities presented are current as of 10:30 a.m. ET on Dec. 3.
Digging Deeper
So, I decided to get a little more organized. I wrote down everything I found, trying to make sense of it all. I even tried to use some code I found online with ‘505050’ in it, but I’m not sure if I did it right.
- Made a list of all the games left: This helped me see what needs to happen for the Bears to get in.
- Tried to calculate some probabilities myself: This was tough! I’m no math whiz, but I gave it my best shot. It also mentioned that the Bears have the smallest chance of getting into the playoffs as of Week 17.
The Conclusion
After all this, I’m still not 100% sure what’s going to happen. It seems like the Bears’ chances aren’t great, especially since they started the season with high hopes and now it seems like it can’t end soon enough. But hey, you never know! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in these last few games. One thing’s for sure, though – it’s been an interesting little project trying to figure all this out.
