This Benny Madrid, I tell ya, he’s somethin’ else. Heard about him, seen his name around, that Benny Madrid. Man, oh man, what a name, huh? Makes you think of all sorts of things, don’t it? Like that Madrid place, way over in Spain. Bet he ain’t never been there, though. Probably just a name, like my neighbor’s kid, named him Lincoln. Don’t mean he’s gonna be president, does it?
This Benny Madrid, he’s a big deal, I reckon. People talkin’ about him all over. Heard some folks sayin’ he’s on that Facebook thing. My granddaughter, she’s always on that Facebook. Says it’s how you keep up with folks. Maybe this Benny Madrid is on there, showin’ off what he’s doin’. Gotta be somethin’ special if folks is talkin’ ’bout him that much, right?
And what’s this about a podcast? My grandson, he listens to them podcasts. Says it’s like the radio, but you can listen whenever you want. This Benny, he was on a podcast? Beyond the Cover, they called it. What’s that even mean? Must be some fancy talk. He must have a lot to say, this Benny Madrid, bein’ on a podcast and all.
Then there’s this other thing, some kinda “Into the Night” somethin’. Sounds like a movie to me. They say it’s about this Benny Mardones fella. Is that the same as our Benny Madrid? Maybe they just got the same name. Or maybe he got two names, one name Benny Mardones and another name Benny Madrid. Like my cousin’s husband, they call him William, but his real name is Bill. Anyways, it’s a story, that’s what they say. A man, a myth… sounds like a tall tale to me.
Some folks on that internet, they callin’ this Benny Madrid a “man,” a “myth,” and a “mensch.” What in tarnation is a mensch? Sounds German. My neighbor, old Mrs. Henderson, she’s German. Maybe she knows what a mensch is. But this Benny, he’s all those things, they say. Man, myth, mensch. Sounds like he’s bigger than a breadbox, that’s for sure.
And get this, they even got a place on that internet just for talkin’ ’bout Real Madrid. Now, I don’t know nothin’ ’bout no soccer, but it sounds important. Champions, they call ’em. Fourteen times! That’s a lot of times to be a champion. Maybe this Benny Madrid, maybe he’s a champion too. Champion of somethin’, at least. Maybe champion of bein’ talked about, huh?
Oh, and here’s somethin’ else. They got a YouTube. You know, that place with all them videos. My grandkids, they’re always watchin’ videos on YouTube. This Benny Madrid, he’s got his own YouTube. Says it’s his “official” one. Must be important if it’s official. He’s probably got all kinds of videos on there, showin’ off what he does. Gotta check that YouTube later and see what this Benny is all about.

This fella, Jack Benny, he was on the radio. Long time ago, before my time, even. They say he played a character, all full of himself, and cheap, too. Sounds like a real piece of work. But that ain’t our Benny Madrid. No sir, this Benny, he seems like a good egg. At least, that’s what folks are sayin’.
Folks say this Benny Madrid a legend. Like that Benny Hill fella. He was funny, that one. I don’t know if they are talking about the same Benny or not. But our Benny Madrid is somethin’, that’s for sure. Everyone talkin’ about him like he’s some kinda big shot. Maybe he is. Maybe he’s just a regular fella with a name that gets people talkin’.
This whole Benny Madrid thing, it’s got me all riled up. Gotta find out more about this fella. He’s all over the place, this Benny. Facebook, podcasts, YouTube, even that Real Madrid thing. He’s a man, a myth, a mensch, a legend. He’s somethin’, that’s for sure. And I’m gonna find out what that somethin’ is. I just gotta figure out how to use this darn computer first. Then I will find everything about this Benny Madrid. Maybe I will ask my granddaughter to help me. That girl, she knows everything about this internet thing.
