Okay, so I needed a clear bag for the game the other day, and I was like, “No way am I paying a fortune for some fancy clear purse.” So, I decided to get crafty and make my own cross-body clear stadium bag. I’m not a sewing expert, but this was pretty easy, even for me.

First, I gathered my materials. I found some clear vinyl at a fabric store, and I already had some webbing and buckles from an old project. You’ll also need a zipper, but make sure it’s the right length for your bag. I got one that was a bit too long and had to trim it down later, which was kind of a pain.
Cut and Sew
- I cut two rectangles out of the vinyl for the front and back of the bag. I made mine about 12 inches wide and 10 inches tall, but you can adjust the size to whatever you want.
- Then, I cut a long strip for the sides and bottom. This piece needs to be the same width as your front and back pieces, and the length should be the perimeter of your bag plus a little extra for seam allowance.
- Next, I sewed the zipper to the top edges of the front and back pieces. This was probably the trickiest part, but I just went slow and made sure everything was lined up.
- After that, I pinned the side/bottom strip to the front piece, right sides together, and sewed around the edges. Then, I did the same thing with the back piece.
Add the Strap
Now it’s time for the strap. I cut a long piece of webbing and attached the buckles to each end. Then, I sewed the ends of the strap to the top corners of the bag. Make sure you reinforce the stitching here because the strap will be taking a lot of weight.
And that’s it! I flipped the bag right side out, and it looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. It was the perfect size for my phone, wallet, and keys, and it met the stadium’s clear bag policy. Plus, I saved a ton of money by making it myself. It was a super simple project, and I’m pretty happy with how my cross-body bag turned out.
If you’re crafty at all, I definitely recommend giving this a try. It’s a fun and easy way to make a custom bag that’s perfect for game day or any other event that requires a clear bag. And it’s way cheaper than buying one, trust me, you’d better try it!
