Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into The Ultimate Fighter for a while now, and Season 12 seemed like as good a place to start as any. I’d heard about it – GSP and Koscheck as coaches, right? Had to see what the hype was about.

First, I had to figure out where to even watch it. That took a bit of digging, ended up finding it… somewhere. Don’t ask.
Once I got that sorted, I started from episode one. The first thing I did was grab a notebook and pen, ready to jot down names, fighting styles, any drama that popped off. You know, the essentials.
Initial Impressions
- The Teams: GSP seemed super chill, very focused on technique. Koscheck, on the other hand, was… intense. Right from the get-go, you could tell there was going to be some friction.
- The Fighters: A mixed bag, obviously. Some guys clearly had potential, others, I wasn’t so sure about. I tried to keep an open mind, though. I made little notes next to each name, like “good stand-up” or “needs work on the ground.” Real scientific stuff.
I powered through the first few episodes. Watched the guys train, saw the initial fights to get into the house. Honestly, some of those early fights were brutal! Made me wince a couple of times. I scribbled down the results of each fight, tried to keep track of who was winning, who was losing, who was injured.
Then came the coach’s challenge. I always find these interesting – it is a good look into the coaches personality. Seeing GSP and Koscheck go at it was hilarious. The trash talk, the rivalry…it’s reality TV gold, even if you’re not a huge MMA fan.
The Middle Episodes
As the season went on, I started to get a feel for the different personalities. Some guys I rooted for, some guys I actively disliked. That’s part of the fun, right? The drama inside the house was almost as entertaining as the fights themselves. Almost.

I kept up with my notes, marking down who was improving, who was struggling, who was getting on everyone’s nerves. My notebook started to look like a crazy person’s diary, all filled with arrows and stars and exclamation points.
Getting to the Finals
By the time we got to the last few episodes, I felt like I knew these guys. I had my favorites, and I was genuinely invested in who was going to win. It is that feeling of picking a team and wanting to see them win.
Finally got to the finale. No spoilers, but let’s just say it was worth the wait. The fights were intense, the atmosphere was electric (even through my screen), and the whole thing was just a satisfying conclusion to the season. The ending fight was one to remember. One guy went in as the clear underdog and proved everyone wrong.
After it was all over, I closed my notebook, feeling pretty good. It was a wild ride, and I totally understood why people get hooked on this show. I’m definitely going to check out another season at some point. Maybe I’ll even keep better notes next time. Maybe.
