Today I want to talk to you about something a bit different, not my usual tech stuff, more of an adventure. I went out to the Bethpage Black golf course, yeah, that super tough course in New York. I’d always heard about this place, especially that famous sign, the one that says “WARNING – The Black Course Is An Extremely Difficult Course Which We Recommend Only For Highly Skilled Golfers.” I thought, let me just go and see this sign, maybe snap a picture or something, I wasn’t planning to play, of course.

So I set out, driving there and thinking, it’s just a sign, what’s the big deal? Once I arrived, I walked around a bit. It was a sunny day, I remember. I noticed golfers teeing off, and then I saw it – the sign. It was right there, by the first tee, just like everyone says. It was a simple metal sign bolted to an iron railing. I stood there for a while, just looking at it.
- I took a few pictures. I wanted to get a good angle, you know, to really capture it.
- I watched some golfers start their rounds, some of them looked a bit nervous looking at that sign, I guess.
- I thought about the history of this place, how many great golfers must have stood right where I was standing.
After a while, I decided to walk around the course a bit, just to see what it was like. I didn’t go far, just enough to get a feel for the place. I saw some pretty tough holes, long fairways, and thick rough. I could see why they put that sign up. It’s not just for show.
The Ride Back
On the way back, I was thinking about the whole experience. It was like going to see a famous landmark, but for golfers, this sign is like a rite of passage or something. I started to realize it wasn’t just about seeing the sign, it was about understanding what it represents – a challenge, a test of skill, a bit of golfing history.
So, yeah, that was my little adventure to see the Bethpage Black warning sign. It might not sound like much, but it was a cool experience. It gave me a new perspective on golf and how a simple sign can have so much meaning. I’m glad I went. It was a good day, a simple day, but a good one.
