My Take on the Blue Jays vs Padres Game
Alright, so I finally got around to watching the Blue Jays play the Padres the other day. Had some time, figured I’d catch a game. Always kinda interesting to see teams from different leagues go at it, you know?

So, I settled in on the couch, got the TV going. First thing I noticed, José Berríos was on the mound for Toronto. Remember hearing he was getting the Opening Day nod, so yeah, makes sense he’s in the rotation. Thought to myself, okay, let’s see what he’s got today.
The game started off, pretty standard stuff. Back and forth, a few hits here and there. Didn’t really feel like either team got a huge jump early on, which sometimes makes for a tense watch later. I was just following along, watching the pitches, seeing the plays unfold. Nothing too crazy right out of the gate.
- Made sure I had snacks nearby, standard procedure.
- Kept an eye on the score, obviously.
- Tried to follow the different pitcher matchups when they changed.
There were a couple of moments, though. You know how it is. A nice double play turned, a runner left stranded in scoring position. Those little things that make you go “oof” or give a little nod. Padres had some decent swings, Jays had theirs too. It wasn’t a slugfest right away, more tactical, felt like.
I watched them work through the innings. Saw some good defensive plays, maybe a questionable call or two from the ump, happens all the time. You just watch and see how the teams react. Sometimes a bad call fires a team up, sometimes it deflates them. It’s all part of the game, right?
Things got a bit more interesting towards the later innings. Felt like the pressure was building. A few key hits started stringing together. Can’t recall every single detail off the top of my head, but I remember thinking, “Okay, here we go, this is where it gets decided.”

In the end, one team obviously came out on top. That’s how baseball works. Didn’t really have a dog in the fight, so to speak, just enjoyed watching the competition unfold. It was a decent way to spend a few hours. Saw some good pitching from Berríos early on, saw some timely hitting later. Just another day watching baseball, really. Always something to see.
