Today I wanna talk about my experience with the BMW GS 1250. I’ve been eyeing this bike for a while, you know, it’s one of those dream bikes for adventure riders.
So, the first thing I did was a ton of research. I read articles, watched videos, and talked to other riders. What I gathered was that the GS 1250 is known for being super reliable and easy to maintain. That’s a big plus for me because I’m not exactly a mechanic, you know?
Then, I finally got my hands on one. The first thing I noticed was how comfortable it is. The seat is great, and the riding position is just right. I could see myself riding this thing for hours without getting tired. It feels like it’s built for long distances, which is perfect for those epic road trips I’ve been dreaming of.
Next, I took it for a test ride. Now, I’m not a pro or anything, but I could tell right away that this bike is powerful. It’s got a 4-stroke boxer 2-cylinder engine, and let me tell you, it moves. I was hitting those higher speeds way quicker than I expected. Feels good, man, feels real good.
One thing that really stood out to me was how easy it is to handle. Even though it’s a big bike, it doesn’t feel like it. It’s surprisingly nimble and responsive. I mean, I was able to navigate through traffic and around corners with ease. It just gave me a lot of confidence, you know?
But, I was curious about the mileage, so I did some digging. Turns out, the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure is supposed to be better in that department. But hey, the regular GS 1250 still does pretty well. And it is 44 lb lighter than the 850 version. So, that’s something to consider.

- Realized how easy it handles, even for a big bike.
- Looked into the mileage, which is decent.
So, after all that, I decided to go for it. I got myself a BMW GS 1250. And let me tell you, I’m loving it. I’ve taken it on a few short trips, and it’s been a blast. It’s comfortable, powerful, and easy to ride. Everything I was looking for in an adventure bike.
I’ve even taken it on some gravel roads, and it handled them like a champ. I’m thinking about getting the GSA version in the future, it might be better for off-road. But for now, the GS 1250 is perfect for my needs. But I’ve heard people saying good things about the R1250 GS Trophy Competition, it might be a good choice. I don’t know, what do you guys think?
