Oh man, you won’t believe what happened with Scottie Barnes. I’ve been following this guy since he joined the Toronto Raptors in 2021, and it’s been a rollercoaster, to say the least.

So, I started tracking his progress right from the get-go. Drafted fourth overall, big expectations, you know? He kicked off his career with the Raptors, and I was like, “Alright, let’s see what this kid’s got.” I made it a point to watch his games, and follow his statistics, you know.
Fast forward to this season, and bam! Ankle injury. It’s like, seriously? This guy can’t catch a break. I remember reading somewhere he’s out for several weeks. That’s a huge blow, not just for him but for the Raptors too. They announced that on Wednesday, I was checking the news every day. I feel like a real fan you know.
I dug a little deeper, trying to figure out what this means. Turns out, he had an orbital fracture earlier this season too. That means an eye injury. Man, that sounds painful. I even found a report about him missing three weeks because of that. And now this ankle sprain, which happened during a game against the Knicks, no less. I was watching that game, and it was tough to see him go down like that, and it is 113-108! So sad!
- First, he got that eye injury.
- Then, he came back, played about 10 games.
- And now, this ankle sprain.
I was really bummed out. You see, I had high hopes for Barnes. This season, he was averaging around 20.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Those are career-high numbers for him! I was like, “This is his year!” But then, this injury happened.
I kept searching for more info, reading articles, checking forums, I even saw some discussions. This guy, Aaron Rose, mentioned that Barnes would be back on Thursday to play against the Brooklyn Nets. That’s some good news, I guess, but still, missing those games is rough.

I tried to be positive. Maybe this time off will give him a chance to come back stronger. But it’s hard to ignore the pattern. It feels like every time he starts to shine, something like this happens.
In the end, I realized that injuries are just a part of the game. It sucks, but it’s true. As a fan, all I can do is hope for the best and keep supporting him. I mean, I’ve been following him for so long, I’m not gonna stop now.
I’ll keep tracking his recovery, and hopefully, he’ll be back on the court soon, doing what he does best. Fingers crossed, guys. Fingers crossed.
