Okay, so I wanted to grab some pictures from ESPN’s coverage of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. You know, for my blog, I like to have some visuals, spice things up a bit. Figured it’d be simple, right? Ha!

First, I fired up my browser and headed over to the ESPN website. I navigated to the NBA section, then to the playoffs, and finally found the page for the Eastern Conference Finals. Easy peasy so far.
Finding the Game Recap
Scrolled down a bit, looking for a game recap or a photo gallery. Usually, they have a dedicated section for photos, makes things super convenient. But this time…nothing. Just articles, video highlights, and the usual stats.
So, I clicked into the main game recap article, thinking maybe they embedded the good photos there. I skimmed through the text, scanning for any links to galleries or anything like that. Nope. Just the standard game summary, player interviews, blah blah blah.
Getting a Bit Creative
Alright, plan B. I decided to watch some of the video highlights. Sometimes they show some great shots during the broadcast that you can screenshot. So I clicked play on a few videos, keeping my eyes peeled for any good stills.

I did manage a few of the players.

Got a decent one.

I also got a cool one of the game.
I played around with the pause button, trying to catch the action at just the right moment. It took a few tries, and some of the screenshots were a bit blurry because of the motion, but I managed to get a couple of decent ones. I’m not gonna lie, it wasn’t the most efficient process.
Final Touches
I took the pictures I captured, opened my favorite image editor and cropped out my taskbar at the bottom of my screen from watching it on my computer. I uploaded it to my blog and here we are!
I also made sure to give ESPN proper credit, of course. Gotta play by the rules!
So yeah, that’s how I went about getting those Game 1 pictures. Not as straightforward as I’d hoped, but hey, I made it work! Sometimes you gotta get a little resourceful, right?
